BUSINESS NEWS

  • Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell will change to new local ownership with the sale expected to close in early April. The buyer group will work with the current team to host events (featuring local chefs and beverage partners) during the transition and plan a phased upgrade after the sale.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rho Plantenberg and her husband have kept a two-decade trivia tradition alive with their team, Google Your Own Adventure, now with 16 to 20 players competing in KVSC's Wild West Trivia on Feb. 13 to 15 in town. They usually finish in the mid-teens, enjoying friendly competition.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Cloud School District Superintendent Laurie Putnam was named among 30 national superintendents to watch for 2025-2026. Her leadership in academic excellence and community engagement will be celebrated at an NSPRA seminar in New Orleans in July — she was also honored as Minnesota's 2025 Superintendent of the Year.  WJON
  • Central Minnesota high school students in ROCORI's Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities class are hosting Winter Game Night today from 4:00 — 7:00 p.m. at the high school, featuring a bean bag tournament, games, $1 hotdogs and pizza slices, and a silent auction to promote teamwork and local entrepreneurship.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Cloud City Council discussed a temporary sales tax to help cover a $7M gap for the YMCA waterpark. City staff will draft a resolution for review at the Jan. 26 meeting + if approved by the Legislature, the tax may appear on a ballot in fall.  KNSI
  • Career Solutions was awarded $350,000 from a $17.3 million grant round by the Department of Employment & Economic Development to help locals upskill for careers in manufacturing. The program supports individuals in earning credentials for in-demand industries.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Terrence Keller from Rejuv Medical warns that shoveling snow can lead to back pain and advises using your legs and lowering your center of gravity to reduce strain—especially for those over 45. He offers practical tips to help prevent injuries this winter.  WJON
