COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Three local youth—Brennan T., Ledon, and Brook'Lynn—were named Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club for their active involvement, essays, and speeches, and a reception honoring the awardees will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the Southside Boys' and Girls' Club.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Paramount Center will host The Peking Acrobats on Valentine's night + a family-friendly acrobatics show featuring trick cycling, juggling and live music. Other upcoming events include School of Rock and a Willie tribute later this month.  WJON
  • This Saturday at 9:00 p.m., Keller Bar in downtown will host the A$H.WAV Birthday Party featuring four local hip hop artists (21 and over show) sharing their creative stories in a supportive venue.  WJON
  • Friday, Jan. 23, Lake George in St. Cloud will host Mama Mia on Ice—a free event offering skate rentals, a warming house with hot chocolate and popcorn, and a photo station for residents to enjoy film magic on ice.  WJON
  • Local trivia team It Just Doesn’t Matter, formed by South Junior High teachers and multiple Minnesota Masters of Trivia winners, will compete at KVSC’s 47th Annual Trivia Marathon from Feb. 13–15 as teams tackle speed rounds and rural food challenges (a nod to their planning skills and lasting friendships).  WJON

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Xcel Energy offers advice for residents to lower heating bills during today’s deep freeze caused by a polar vortex. The utility recommends keeping thermostats between 65 and 70°F when at home + lowering them to 58°F when away, with each one-degree reduction cutting bills by up to 3%.  KNSI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota announced three Youth of the Year recipients for 2025-26, with Brook’Lynn H. named overall winner; a reception in her honor will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the Southside Club at 1205 6th Ave. S. in St. Cloud.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • The St. Cloud V.A. now lets women veterans request gynecological care since Dec. 1 and will host a Go Red event on Feb. 6 (11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and a focus group on Feb. 10 (noon to 1:00 p.m.), while its IT project readies new electronic records for May.  WJON
