COMMUNITY NEWS

  • This weekend, Riverside Park hosts winter events with sledding, snowshoeing, and Sunday's Barnelopet Kids Youth Ski event offering free Nordic ski rentals. In February, the Camp and Travel Show runs from the 19th to the 22nd at River’s Edge, followed by the Farm Show on the 24th and 25th.  WJON
  • Brian, a playful 6-month-old cat with striking white fur and tabby markings, is waiting for adoption at the Tri-County Humane Society at 735 8th Street NE, St-Cloud. The shelter is open Monday-Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and on weekends from noon to 5 p.m.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • St. Cloud’s Bold and Bright Festival is hosting the Mac and Cheese Crawl this Saturday from 11am to 4pm at 10 local venues (such as Jules’ Bistro and Red Carpet Nightclub) with a $30 ticket from Bernick’s that includes a 4 oz sample at each stop.  WJON
  • Legendary violinist Lindsey Stirling will perform at Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park on Aug. 13. Ticket presale starts today at 10:00 a.m. via Ticketmaster (use code LINDSEYLEDGE) and general tickets go on sale Jan. 30.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • January is cervical cancer awareness month; Nurse Navigator Karla Schlicht from CentraCare and Coborns Cancer Center shares key insights on HPV (Human Papillomavirus) and urges women to get pap smears every three years starting at age 21 to catch cervical cancer early.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • Golf Week recently released its Top 200 list and three Minnesota courses, The Quarry at Giants Ridge + Wilderness at Fortune Bay + Madden’s on Gull Lake, ranked high nationally. Their top scores show strong local design as the season advances.  WJON
  • At the MNGWL Region 7 Qualifier on Saturday, Jan. 24, the Sartell Sabres finished second overall and won four first-place titles, while the Becker Bulldogs captured the top spot. The event showcased local wrestling talent and set a competitive tone for the season.  WJON
  • The Sauk Rapids-Rice boys hockey team won four straight games and will play Mora-Milaca at home tonight at 7 PM. Coach Brady DeGagne said the team is working better together+ key players are leading their offense.  WJON
