COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trisha Marie Hedburg, a well-loved community member from Buffalo who battled cancer for 13 years, died January 30, 2026, surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held February 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at The Park Event Center in Waite Park (details available via the funeral home).  WJON
  • Tri-County Humane Society is offering a Valentine-themed adoption event where adult cats cost $14 from its local shelter through Feb. 14 + residents can bring home a loving companion.  WJON

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Eminent Coffee, a local roaster in Sartell that also ran a shop in St. Joseph, closed its doors today after more than three years in business as owner Josh Kaeter shifts his focus to family life.  St. Cloud Times
  • Retailer Eddie Bauer will close its North American brick-and-mortar stores (including its Albertville location) this year as it shifts to online-only sales amid economic pressures. Local shoppers are encouraged to take advantage of current sales before the closures take effect.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Saint Benedict and Saint John's University will launch the True North Winter Festival from Feb. 7 to early March. The event offers pond hockey, a Luminary Walk on Feb. 13 and 14, a winter mass on Feb. 15, and a Sauna Village from Feb. 25—uniting the community.  KNSI
  • Just outside Isanti, Isanti Spirits Distillery offers one-on-one molten glass classes every Sunday during winter (for ages 10 and up) where participants can create a paperweight, flower, or pint glass for $100 per person or $175 for two. Call or message to reserve a session.  WJON
  • School of Rock The Musical is playing at the local theater through next weekend. The show (with punk and grunge casts) features energetic performances by local talent and promises a lively night out.  WJON
  • Local musician Michael Shynes will host an intimate Valentine’s dinner show at Iron Street Distillery on Valentine’s Day with gourmet dining, handcrafted cocktails, and live music for 80 guests; seating begins at 4:30 p.m. and the performance starts at 7:00 p.m.  WJON

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On Jan. 7, Macy’s in Crossroads in St. Cloud was announced to close, prompting economist King Banaian to warn that retail job losses and slow hiring in sectors like healthcare and education may hurt the local economy.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Bernick Family Foundation, partnering with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation, awarded $30K to two St. Cloud organizations—Friends of Career Solutions for its CareerONE program and Aslan Health Primary Care for a mobile youth sports health cart—as part of a $300K statewide initiative to support youth education and fitness.  KNSI
  • The St. Cloud Community Education Winter Catalog is out, offering planetarium shows that expanded from two to six nights, line dancing classes with instructor Jeff Ringer and open gym at Kennedy, South Junior High, North Junior High & Clearview.  WJON
  • Sartell-St. Stephen High School’s One Act Play advanced to the state festival for the third year, with 19 students set to perform their dystopian piece 'Where Words Once Were' on Thursday at O'Shaugnessey Auditorium (St. Catherine's University) in St. Paul.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • Masyn Patrick earned his 200th career win on Feb. 2 at the Paynesville Bulldogs Triangular as the Holdingford Huskers won 35-23 against Paynesville + 47-20 against Canby before falling to state ranked AA Pierz.  WJON
  • The St. Cloud Crush hold a 15 to 9 record + are seeded first in the section 6A girls hockey playoffs; they will finish the regular season tonight at home against Willmar and then await their semifinal opponent on Tuesday, Feb.10.  WJON
  • After firing GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Vikings hired new coaches including assistant head coach Frank Smith to prepare for the 2026 season. The coaching additions will help the team gear up for the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh starting April 23 and free agency on March 11.  WJON
