COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents of Quarry Park can share input via a survey open until Feb. 16, and county officials led by Ben Anderson will review all feedback to plan improvements such as new bike trails, swimming areas, climbing zones, an interpretive center and better parking for the park’s future.  KNSI
  • Binx, a gentle 4½-year-old longhair with brown markings and green eyes, is available for adoption at Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud. A generous donor covered his fee, and interested adopters can call 320-252-0896 or visit during business hours.  WJON
  • The 59th Central Minnesota Farm Show runs Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the River's Edge Convention Center with 275+ booths and 3,000 visitors. The free event includes ag career sessions for students and a raffle for five $1,000 scholarships — a new draw for ag education.  WJON
  • Farm Direct Minnesota updated its website for Shop Local Month by adding an interactive map to help users find nearby farms and produce, and its social media group now has over 100,000 members (providing contact info for producers so customers can check opening hours).  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wirth Center acquired the historic Daniel Building on 11 Seventh Ave. N. last month for ($550,000) and plans to turn it into an arts hub featuring music practice rooms, dance classrooms, visual arts space, and a recital venue with an expected opening in late 2028.  St. Cloud Times
  • Paramount Center for the Arts in St. Cloud will host multiple tribute concerts this February as Michael Moore pays homage to Willie Nelson on Thursday, Feb. 12 with shows at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. + Pop icon Tiffany will perform her hits on Friday, Feb. 20.  KNSI
  • The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park will host over 20 summer events with music and stand-up comedy — the schedule features Lindsey Stirling in August and Blues Traveler/Gin Blossoms/Spin Doctors in September.  WJON

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Stearns County launched a permanent electronics recycling program on Jan. 5 at its Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Waite Park, where residents drop off unwanted devices Monday through Saturday during business hours (7:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.). County officials say the facility has collected 17,836 pounds of e-waste, showing high community participation.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Stearns County is updating the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve Master Plan and invites residents to share feedback online until Feb. 16. The input will guide plans for expanding trails, updating swimming spots, and adding amenities + improvements.  WJON

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • In St. Cloud, residents plan to celebrate Valentine's Day practically by favoring takeout dinners and cozy home gatherings over crowded restaurants. The local approach (which favors simple, low-cost gestures) reflects a relaxed holiday spirit for a wintry celebration.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday, Feb. 2, Cathedral boys edged Apollo 96-94 with Sal Camara scoring 29 and Owen Grove adding 21, while Sartell-St. Stephen girls won 84-48 over ROCORI with Kennedy Lewis scoring 23 — the contests energized local high school sports fans.  WJON
