COMMUNITY NEWS

  • KVSC's Annual Trivia Marathon is a 50-hour contest that will run from Feb. 13 to Feb. 15 in St. Cloud. Volunteers, including Doug Asquith (nicknamed Not Wearing Pants), support trivia teams with friendly banter and free food, keeping the event a beloved local tradition.  WJON
  • TriUnity Foundation is offering $2,500 grants for community members facing terminal illnesses — applications are open on its website through March 31. The nonprofit, founded by St. Cloud Financial Credit Union, plans to award up to six grants from local events.  WJON

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Amtrak Borealis achieved a 104.7% ridership boost in 2025 with over 301,000 riders since its May 2024 debut. The route departs St. Paul (11:49 a.m.) and makes 13 stops in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois on its daily trip to Chicago.  St. Cloud Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • A historical comedy called The Revolutionists is coming to Gnarly Bard Theater downtown from March 6 to 15. The play follows four key women during the French Revolution and will offer six performances over two weekends.  WJON
  • The True North Winter Festival will kick off Saturday (noon-4 p.m.) in Collegeville with winter sports and ice sculptures. It will include a Luminary Walk and a public Winter Mass on Lake Sagatagan next weekend, plus a Sauna Village from Feb. 25 to March 1.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Cloud State University's new Community Advisory Board met with university leadership on Monday and included 21 community, business, and city leaders. The board will meet quarterly (with its next meeting planned for early April) to guide key university projects.  WJON
  • Brad Bergstrom, now Sauk Rapids-Rice Superintendent, began his career in northern Minnesota after playing hockey and teaching in International Falls, Fergus Falls and Austin. He recently recommitted to lead through the 2028-2029 school year to stay close to family near the Twin Cities.  WJON

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Local restaurants are gearing up for a busy Valentine's Day dinner on Saturday, Feb. 14, with St. Cloud favorites like White Horse, Jules Bistro, and Olde Brick House among the options. Other nearby venues advise reservations to help diners avoid long waits for a memorable evening.  WJON
  • Zaffiro's Pizzaria will offer heart-shaped pizzas for a Valentine's Day combo that includes a pre-movie dinner and a film at Marcus Theatres in Waite Park plus dessert at Christine's Cheesecakes nearby.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eight SCSU women’s hockey players, including four current and four alumnae (a record for the Huskies), will compete at the Winter Olympics in Milan starting tomorrow. The tournament runs through Feb. 19.  WJON
  • Former St. Cloud State hockey players Patrick Russell and Oliver Lauridsen will represent Denmark at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan — joining eight women with ties to SCSU and marking 10 alumni Olympic appearances.  WJON
  • The St. Cloud Warriors hockey team played at the Veterans Showcase in Tampa from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, facing tough matchups and receiving high praise, and they will take on a Blattner team on Feb. 28 at Scheels Arena in Sartell.  KNSI
  • Andrew Berndt won first in the boys' 5km classic race at the Section 8 meet in Maplelag Tuesday and helped his team finish third overall. He and teammate Sam Thompson will compete in the state championship at Giant's Ridge on Thursday, Feb. 12.  WJON
