COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Marvin, a lively one-year-old Labrador weighing 78 lbs, is ready for adoption at TriCounty Humane Society today in St. Cloud. Interested families can call 320-252-0896 or visit the shelter at 735 8th Street NE during business hours.  WJON
  • Cold Spring's Annual Chocolate Crawl invites locals this Friday from noon to 6:00 p.m. at 23 businesses, and visitors can collect passport stamps for a gift basket drawing while sampling a variety of treats.  WJON
  • The 59th annual Central Minnesota Farm Show will be held at River’s Edge Convention Center later this month, offering free admission with hundreds of exhibitors and educational sessions on conservation practices. It runs Monday, Feb. 24 (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) and Tuesday, Feb. 25 (9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.)  KNSI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Great River Children's Museum will host its Sip N Play event for adults this Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.—featuring winter-themed games such as archery, curling, and sock skating with free non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks.  WJON
  • Wirth Center is turning the former Daniel Building on 7th Avenue into an arts hub with recital space, art studios, a recording studio, and rental space. Artist spaces will open this month and full completion is planned by summer 2027 — part of its $3 million investment drive.  WJON
  • Country rock artist Brantley Gilbert will perform with special guest Aaron Lewis at The Ledge Amphitheatre in Waite Park on Friday, May 22, 2026—tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Feb. 13.  WJON
  • GREAT Theatre in Waite Park has added two new matinees for Cabaret due to high ticket demand at the 140-seat Helgeson Learning Lab. The musical opens Feb. 19 and runs through Mar. 8 with extra shows on Feb. 28 and Mar. 7.  WJON
  • Granite markers in St. Cloud's historic southside show the area's heritage, with about 30 markers installed between 2010 and 2013. The markers mimic 1850s hitching posts and mark key intersections in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods.  WJON
  • St. Cloud Area School District will host a Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration on Friday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Madison Elementary School, featuring student performances (including a session by Deema Cheng’s Kung Fu Studio), interactive activities and a silent auction benefiting the eighth-grade trip to China.  KNSI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Central Minnesota unemployment rose to 5.4 percent in December—the highest since 2020—up from 3.3 percent the previous year. Workforce professionals reported that finding work became harder for office, IT, creative and sales roles while food service and manufacturing positions stayed easier to fill.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utility work will close a lane on 14th Street North (from 29th Avenue North to 100 ft west of 29th) on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; onsite crews will manage traffic so drivers should allow extra time.  KNSI

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Minnesota State High School League will host an Officiating Recruitment Forum on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom to address the shortage of baseball and softball umpires in the area; registration is required to receive the meeting link.  WJON
  • The top-seeded St. Cloud Crush take on Northern Lakes in the Section 6A semifinal tonight at 7 p.m. at the MAC. Coach Mike Petroske credits the team’s turnaround — which includes contributions from key players like Reese Ruska and Jordan Bovy — as a major factor behind their playoff success.  WJON
