COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Cloud residents have a new travel option today as FlixBus begins twice-daily service from the Metro Bus Transit Center at 510 1st Street South, linking riders to Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, and the Twin Cities + more.  KNSI
  • A *Dinking With Dementia Friends Pickleball Tournament* is set for Saturday, March 21 at the Whitney Recreation Center and will benefit dementia caregivers. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with $50 individual and $80 doubles sign-ups.  WJON

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A malfunctioning bathroom fan triggered a small attic fire at Stride Academy on Tuesday around 4:50 p.m. - the automatic sprinkler system activated and everyone evacuated safely.  KNSI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Stearns History Museum will release the new book 'Images of America: St. Cloud' on May 5, showcasing the city's history through photos and personal accounts from local archives. Book lovers can pre-order the $24.99 paperback from major sellers.  WJON
  • Stearns History Museum honored Marian Rengel and Mike Knaak on Monday by awarding them the 2025 Zapp Historian Award for their work in preserving local history. Rengel, a longtime writer and editor, and Knaak, a photographer who chronicled community events, received recognition at the museum.  WJON
  • KVSC will host the 47th Annual Trivia Marathon from 5:00 p.m. Friday until 7:00 p.m. Sunday in St. Cloud, where about 50 teams will compete in Wild West Trivia and other questions to win the Minnesota Masters of Trivia trophy.  WJON
  • Valentine’s Day in St. Cloud will be warm with highs in the 40s while cooler nights loom; local venues plan Saturday events (Skatin’ Place offers an adult skate and laser tag and Arroy Thai presents a burlesque show at 9 p.m.).  St. Cloud Times
  • Residents are casting daily votes in the annual Minnesota’s Best contest to pick the top bakery — local favorites range from St. Cloud shops to gems in Longville and Elk River. Voting runs until Feb. 25 and winners will be announced on June 28 in the Star Tribune and online.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Garden Education Day is set for Saturday, Mar. 14 at the Gorecki Conference Center at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. Hosted by University of Minnesota Master Gardener Volunteers of Stearns County, the event offers workshops, expert panels, hands-on sessions and a free well water nitrate testing clinic.  WJON
  • Whitney Senior Center and the St. Cloud Police Department have partnered to offer a free training course for seniors that explores police operations, holding nine weekly sessions from March 23 to May 18 at the department (Monday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.).  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Planning Commission unanimously approved Tuesday night's rezoning request for 14 and 16 McLeland Road near Apollo High School, resetting the area to I3 Planned Industrial. This change is only a first step before further permits and a council review may lead to a cannabis cultivation facility that could bring 85+ unionized jobs.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recall has been issued for repackaged M&M Peanut candy sold under the Make Your Mark name by Beacon Promotions in Eagan after the packaging failed to list milk, soy, and peanut allergens. Consumers are advised to stop using the candy, return it to the store, and clean any surfaces it touched.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cathedral hockey beat Little Falls 5-3 at the Municipal Athletic Complex Tuesday night. Bo Schmidt logged a hat trick — featuring a power play goal and empty net finish — that sealed the win in a tight rivalry.  WJON
  • St. Cloud's North Star Curling Club has grown to 125 active members since opening in January 2023 and its winter league of 20 teams meets Sunday afternoons at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center — the club is now planning to build its own facility.  WJON
