COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The TriCounty Humane Society now lists four mice ready for adoption in St. Cloud; call 320-252-0896 or visit its small animal room (735 8th Street NE) during business hours, noting these mice require homes without cats.  WJON
  • The 59th Annual Central Minnesota Farm Show will be held at the River's Edge Convention Center on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 in St. Cloud. The free event will feature ag career showcases, scholarship opportunities, and panel sessions on conservation, homesteading, and succession planning (organized by the Chamber of Commerce).  St. Cloud Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • John Mulaney will bring his stand-up comedy to the Ledge Amphitheater on August 22, marking the venue’s first comedy show. Tickets are available at the box office and Ticketmaster starting Friday at 10:00 a.m.  WJON
  • Tiffany will perform Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Center for the Arts in St. Cloud as part of her All This Time Tour — featuring hits and hidden B-sides for an intimate, mall-like experience. Tickets remain available for the local event.  WJON
  • St. Cloud Symphony invites families to enjoy a storytelling concert featuring Peter and the Wolf & Youth Person's Guide to the Orchestra this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Ritsche Auditorium; ticket prices range from $5 for students to $30 for adults.  WJON
  • Emmy Award-winning comedian John Mulaney will perform on Saturday, Aug. 22 at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park. Tickets go on presale today from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (code LEDGECOMEDY) and general sales start Friday, Feb. 20 on Ticketmaster.  KNSI
  • Fergus Falls native Chris Tungseth (27) earned a golden ticket on American Idol with an original song that honored his late father's legacy. The judges all said yes as his moving performance captured the hearts of local fans.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Cloud State University will close the Kiehle Visual Arts Center on May 8, shifting the Art Department to new spaces in Stewart and Headley Halls. The change supports a Comprehensive Facilities Plan that will eventually transform the center into green space + a connection to the Mississippi River.  WJON

FINANCE NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Diocese pension plan faces a $35 million shortfall that will reduce pensions by an average of 42 percent for nearly 1,400 employees (including teachers and clergy). The plan was frozen effective Dec. 31 and funds will move to a new account in summer 2026.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Stearns County will hold a public hearing at Melrose City Hall on April 7 at 6:00 p.m. to decide whether to keep a shotgun-only deer hunting rule amid new state law changes regarding rifle use.  WJON
  • County commissioners say the Stearns County Justice Center is coming in under budget, with costs dropping from $324.9M to under $290M and local firms set to receive 60% of funds. Officials will meet lowest bidders on March 10 & begin groundbreaking in spring for completion by 2029.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • CentraCare’s Dr. Pelzel in St. Cloud explains that A-Fib, a common heart rhythm disorder that often affects seniors, can come and go but may be managed with treatments like ablation therapy — regular aerobic exercise may help lower the risk.   WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Cathedral Crusaders hockey team, seeded first in Section 5A, will face 8th-seeded Princeton today at 5:00 p.m. at the MAC. Coach Robbie Stocker said the team has improved in practice after a slow start last season.  WJON
