CULTURE NEWS

  • Local museums will hold free talks this month, with the Morrison County Historical Society discussing women in the fur trade on March 14, Sauk Rapids hosting a family genealogy lecture on March 21, and the Stearns History Museum exploring Native American history on March 28 (sponsored by Sourcewell).  WJON

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in town jumped since Monday, with the average rising from $2.76 to $3.12 as supply tightens due to seasonal demand + international tensions; similar increases were seen statewide and nationally according to AAA.  KNSI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Career Force survey shows that central Minnesota high school seniors are more likely to choose living in or near their hometown or in rural areas after graduation instead of moving to large urban centers — a finding that challenges common assumptions. The survey gathered responses from counties including Sherburne, Wright and Stearns.  WJON

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • St. Cloud's Home Show runs Friday, March 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at River's Edge Convention Center — the free event features an indoor patio display, live music, a silent auction and food donations for a wheelbarrow drawing.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cathedral lost 2-1 to Mahtomedi on Wednesday, Mar. 4 at Grand Casino Arena; the team was scheduled to face Dodge County Thursday morning at Mariucci Arena.  WJON
  • The Cathedral Crusaders clinched a spot in the consolation championship game after beating Dodge County 7-3 at Mariucci Arena on Thursday. They will face the winner of Mankato West/Northern Lakes on Saturday morning.  WJON
