  • A celebration of life for Patricia Abfalter will be held at Riverside Park on June 13 at 5 p.m. in St. Cloud; family and friends are invited to honor her caring legacy.  WJON

  • Applications are now open for MN Cup 2026 — one of the largest statewide startup competitions — offering local entrepreneurs free entry, mentorship, education, and seed funding while retaining full ownership.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Blue Goose is a speakeasy tucked below Pioneer Place on 5th Avenue that uses secret passwords to evoke 1920s charm. Fans can explore similar themed venues in Duluth, Stillwater, and the twin cities over upcoming weekends.  WJON
  • The Concordia Choir from Moorhead is set to perform at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in St. Cloud in collaboration with the Youth Chorale of Central Minnesota. This performance is part of their 2026 national tour.  WJON
  • Grammy winners Wynonna Judd and Melissa Etheridge will perform on their Raised On Radio Tour at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park on Sunday, July 5. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m. and each purchase supports the artists’ charities (The Etheridge Foundation and St. Jude).  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Six rising leaders from Greater St. Cloud will join the Minnesota Young American Leaders Program in May on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus to gain skills for cross-sector collaboration for inclusive community development.  KNSI
  • St. Cloud State’s online computer science program ranked number 17 in TechGuide’s national rankings today. The curriculum covers foundational programming + advanced tracks and emphasizes practical skill-building + career readiness.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • A survey by the Minnesota Department of Health found the state’s uninsured rate rose from 3.8% in 2023 to 5.8% in 2025, affecting about 116,000 people. Children & urban residents were hit hardest, & a drop in public coverage helped cause the increase.  WJON

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Central Minnesota Builders Association will host its Spring Tour of Homes on the final two weekends in March, showcasing 18 new homes across nine communities. Homes will be open Friday evenings and weekend midday, and visitors are urged to use the CMBA Tour app for updates and follow house rules.  KNSI

SPORTS NEWS

  • St. John's Prep is sending six teams to compete at the state Esports Championships at St. Cloud State University on Friday and Saturday. The record lineup will feature teams in Rocket League, Chess, Minecraft, Valorant and Fortnite.  WJON
  • St. Benedict’s hockey team earned its first NCAA tournament berth with a MIAC championship win and will play fifth-ranked Amherst in Massachusetts on Saturday, Mar. 14. Coach Lindsay Macy said the achievement marks a milestone for the 29-year program (especially for the senior class).  WJON
  • St. John's hockey team returns to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013 after a 4 — 3 overtime win over Gustavus at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud Saturday. The team will face Aurora in Geneva, Illinois at 1 p.m.  WJON
  • Little Falls Community Schools qualified a record seven teams to compete in six esports games at the Minnesota State Championship in St. Cloud this weekend. The competition runs Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  WJON
