- ➤ Sartell High School Athletics, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union and St. Cloud Subaru raised $10,117 during the 2025–26 school year for cancer research and community assistance, splitting funds between a state research program and a local nonprofit aiding families with terminal illness. - ➤ Up In Smoke Barbecue will reopen in 2-3 weeks at Waite Park’s Marketplace Mall — near Fuji Steakhouse — with expanded seating and new breakfast options for local diners. WJON
- ➤ The chamber selected Motor Works Auto Repair, House of Pizza and Switchboard for its 2026 Business Awards recognizing small business ownership, family-run, and entrepreneurial success + they will be honored at the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 6 at the Park Event Center in Waite Park. WJON

- ➤ Local musician Michael Shynes, born in Staples and raised in Little Falls, began his music journey with a high school band (inspired by a competitive household) before playing local venues like Pioneer Place and private gigs, and he now balances his music career with family life in South Haven. WJON
- ➤ Summertime By George returns in June with free Wednesday concerts at 5:30 p.m. featuring local groups like the Killer Vees and The Locals; net proceeds benefit the Rotary Club nonprofit foundation. Additional acts are scheduled through early August. WJON
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mary Holmberg, principal of Richmond and John Clark Elementary in Rockville, is a finalist for the National Distinguished Principal Award. The winner will be announced in May & national honorees will later visit Washington, D.C. WJON
- ➤ At Sauk Rapids-Rice, 47 DECA students earned spots at nationals after competing in the state contest earlier this month, building on last year's success. They will head to Atlanta for the International Career Development Conference from April 25-28. WJON

- ➤ Public Safety Foundation partners with local groups to offer free walk-in healthcare at East Side Community Outpost in Salem Lutheran Church. Services run from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on rotating dates in March through May (including today for nurse visits) at 90 Riverside Drive SE without an appointment. KNSI
