COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Catholic Charities Emergency Food Shelf will host its annual Pack the Porches on March 28 at three locations in the St. Cloud area—Pioneer Place on Fifth downtown, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union in Sartell, and St. Cloud Hyundai in Waite Park. Donations are encouraged since a $100 gift allows the purchase of $300 worth of food and helps meet a great need following over 2.4 million pounds of food provided last year.  KNSI

CRIME NEWS

  • Dontez Martinis Davis—a level three predatory offender convicted for a 2016 rape in a local hotel and later for assaulting a corrections officer in 2018—will move into the 100 block of 12th Avenue North on March 31st after his release from prison.  KNSI
  • On Wednesday, Joshua Riibe, a St. Cloud University senior believed to be the last person to see missing student Sudiksha Konanki at a Dominican beach, left the country after a judge ruled he had full freedom of movement and he secured a new U.S. passport for privacy—he had been detained earlier but was not named as a suspect.  KNSI
  • On Wednesday, the Stearns/Benton SWAT Team arrested a 24-year-old man in Cold Spring on a felony domestic assault warrant for a prior strangulation offense—further investigation found probable cause for charging him with violating a domestic abuse no contact order.  St. Cloud Times
  • Marquis Fisher was arrested after he allegedly fatally stabbed Shane Michael Brunner during a fight on March 13 and fled the scene (on the 600 block of 12th Avenue North) before being booked into Stearns County jail; Judge Engelking set his bail at $4 million (or $2 million with conditions) on charges of second degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.  KNSI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Comic and Toy Show will be held this weekend at Crossroads Center Mall where over 60 vendors and artists will sell comics, Funko Pops, toys and other pop culture merchandise. A cosplay competition will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. near Target to award gift cards (either $50 or $100), and some vendors will offer private collection valuations during the free event.  St. Cloud Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News says reports show open water in southern Minnesota at Fairmont and Windom and that Central Minnesota will see ice out in a few weeks—on pace for the second week in April. He warns that ice in Central Minnesota is soft and unsafe and advises anglers to fish north of Brainerd—where conditions are better.  WJON
