COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Festi Fall will occur Sunday, Sept. 20 from noon to 5 p.m. on East St. Germain Street — featuring a street fair with live music, food trucks, arts and crafts, a kids zone and a touch a truck event.  WJON
  • The Ladies Veteran Boutique at Stand Down hosts its annual Spring Fling sale this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 724 33rd Ave North for women veterans and spouses, while local observances for Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day are planned Sunday at Sauk Rapids VFW.  KNSI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sauk Rapids native Aaron Clafton will perform at Pioneer Place in downtown next Friday, April 3 with St. Paul-based Thomas Sticha opening the show, featuring stripped-down country renditions that highlight the lyrics and stories behind the songs.  WJON
  • The Downtown Bloody Mary Crawl will take place Sunday, March 29 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in downtown as local bars, restaurants and shops offer 6 oz Bloody Marys for $6 and specialty skewers for $5, with a punch card drawing for prizes.  KNSI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A teen from Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota was named Minnesota’s 2026 Youth of the Year at a ceremony at Target Field on Wednesday night. Brook’Lynn H. will serve as an ambassador for Minnesota teens and received a $20,000 Home Team Scholarship and an extra $2,500 college scholarship.  KNSI
  • The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced a $1.6 million grant awarding 21 local organizations $80,000 each to boost job training for underserved young adults over the next two years, with recipients including Goodwill Easter Seals in St. Cloud and groups in Stearns, Benton, Willmar and Buffalo.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New Census Bureau data shows Minnesota added 33,000 residents from July 1, 2024 to July 1, 2025 + in our local tri-county area, Benton lost 25 residents while Stearns and Sherburne counties gained 997 and 1,038 people respectively.  WJON
  • Minnesota lawmakers, with union support, are drafting bills to ban personalized pricing that uses data from electronic shelf labels - aiming to ensure clear, equal prices for shoppers. The measures remain under review even as retailers plan to expand digital price tags in stores.  WJON

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Central Minnesota Builders Association is hosting its Spring Tour of Homes with 18 new homes open in nine communities this weekend. Homes will be open Friday from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m.; visitors should check the CMBA Tour app (guide).  KNSI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bonnie Shea, 81, broke barriers in the 1950s by skating in improvised gear after being told girls couldn’t play. She resumed hockey at 40 and now inspires local girls’ teams across Central Minnesota — a legacy that paved the way for today’s players.  WJON
