- ➤ On Thursday, the Minnesota State Fair announced this year’s Century Farm inductions, honoring six central Minnesota farms for over 100 years of crop and livestock production; the honored farms (including the Czeck Family Farm near Holdingford) will receive plaques (and certificates) at the Great Minnesota Get-together in August. - ➤ 77 family farms in central Minnesota are being honored as Century Farms by the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau today; farms (in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years) and (covering 50 acres or more) receive a commemorative sign and certificate. WJON

- ➤ Kathy Henning will celebrate her 100th birthday in April as Val’s Rapid Serv—an iconic restaurant in St. Cloud since 1959—marks its long legacy with a simple menu of burgers, fries and milkshakes. Her family, including co-owners Aaron, David, Marlin, Daryl and daughter-in-law Vicki, will join the celebration, underscoring the restaurant’s cherished place in town. St. Cloud Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Wednesday’s meeting, the Cold Spring City Council approved a final plat for a new residential neighborhood of 46 homes on just over 11 acres near County Road 2, with initial construction set to begin this spring and future phases planned for 2027 and 2029. The council also moved forward with wastewater treatment plant upgrades at a $37.5 million cost but has held design work until a cost share agreement with Rockville is signed. KNSI
- ➤ St. Cloud Public Services mourned longtime Public Works Operations Manager Tom Zabinski (who served for over 40 years) after he passed away following a battle with cancer. Public Works is continuing its spring projects including pot hole filling, street sweeping and road repairs as rain expected this weekend aims to restore water levels and support the Lincoln Avenue reconstruction. - ➤ The Minnesota House passed a law that will take effect July 1 — banning parents from including children under 14 in online videos — and also requires that minors aged 14-17 who appear in at least 30% of a parent's content receive 30% of earnings placed in a trust account when they reach adulthood.
