ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire sparked by farm equipment last weekend in a Stearns County field near Paynesville was quickly contained by the St. Martin Fire Department after deputies responded just after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, with no injuries reported. KNSI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Father Scott Pagotchnik of the Diocese of St. Cloud explained that Holy Week offers reflection through days of service (beginning with Palm Sunday and culminating in Easter Sunday on April 4) with local churches, including St. Mary’s Cathedral hosting Holy Thursday and Good Friday services, drawing attendance among younger Christians. - ➤ Acadia (a local eagle) and her mate now tend to three confirmed eaglets in their nest, as verified by the Minnesota DNR on March 30. The tiny eaglets weigh about 3 ounces and are expected to grow as they develop over the next 21 days. WJON

- ➤ Experts say kratom—a legal product sold in local gas stations, smoke shops, and convenience stores—is being used by young people for pain relief despite risks of addiction. Rising poison control calls have led officials to urge parents to talk to their teens about these dangers. WJON

- ➤ St. Benedict’s hockey team ended their record season with 16 wins+ capturing their first MIAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA berth after wins over Hamline and Gustavus before a 2-1 loss to Amherst, tying for 15th in the final USCHO poll. WJON
- ➤ The SCTCC Cyclones beat the Spartans in a doubleheader on March 30 as they won 14-1 and 10-0 with powerful hitting and sharp pitching. WJON
- ➤ The Concordia Cobbers beat the St. John's Johnnies in a doubleheader on Monday, Mar. 30 at the ballpark (scores of 2–1 and 6–2) with strong pitching and timely hits driving the wins. WJON
