COMMUNITY NEWS

  • INDY Foundation’s Bowties and Arrows Gala sold out at the Park Event Center in Waite Park and raised over $247,000 to support cancer care programs and trade scholarships — guests enjoyed a red carpet photo op, dinner, a live auction and dancing with Mason Dixon Line. Next year’s gala will be held on Saturday, March 28th, 2026.  KNSI
  • Kevin Johnson, owner of K Johnson Construction in Sauk Rapids, has joined five other community dancers to represent Tanner’s Team Foundation in the Women’s Fund Dancing With Our Stars event—he practices West Coast Swing with professional dancer Janell Missler. He held a pancake feed fundraiser and will join a Kentucky Derby-themed party on May 3rd before competing on June 9th at the College of St. Benedict where the winning dancer earns an extra $15,000 for the charity.  WJON
  • The Park and Recreation Department announced its Summer 2025 Catalog is available with a complete list of planned events. Registration will open on Wednesday, April 9th at 8 a.m. as residents prepare to sign up for activities.  City of St. Cloud

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Residents evacuated from Place of Hope in St. Cloud after a fire broke out early Monday morning (around 3:45 a.m.) and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames with the building's sprinkler system as no one was hurt while the Fire Marshal's Office began investigating the cause.  WJON

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Cloud Police Department is investigating the death of a 34-year-old man found on March 23 in a home on the 100 block of 29th Avenue North after first responders reported gunshot wounds (on both sides of his head) and a family member present later refused consent to a search (while handguns were discovered in the residence).  St. Cloud Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Cloud Area School District residents will vote today on two ballot questions—one for $50 million to upgrade Apollo High School with a secure entrance, storm shelter/gym and classroom improvements and one for $15 million to build an indoor athletic facility if the first passes—while polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and property taxes could rise $3.33 for a $250,000 home.  WJON
  • The LEAF 742 Education Foundation awarded $78,500 in 53 grants to fund school programs in the St. Cloud Area School District during fall and spring — the grants supported a fiber center at Kennedy Community School, supplies for the South Jr. High yearbook club and a Power Tower for the Apollo High swim team.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Students from four area colleges will host a health screening event for people 50 and older at the Whitney Senior Center in St. Cloud on April 17, with screenings running from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The event will check for high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke risk, poor balance and signs of depression—offering dental hygiene students a chance to practice early oral cancer detection.  KNSI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • St. Cloud State has put Selke Field up for sale; the 16.28-acre parcel, zoned R-2 (Single Family and Two Family Residential/POS Parks and Open Spaces) and appraised at $290,000, is first offered to public entities before private bids open. Central MN Youth Soccer, which has rented the field for over 10 years and serves 1,000 to 1,400 local youth, is fundraising and plans to bid when private offerings begin.  WJON
