  • Cold Spring's Third Street Brewhouse won two silver medals at the Minnesota Brewers Cup today when its beers (Golden Light and Cold Spring Bock) placed second among 72 competitors (in the Standard American and Dark Lagers categories).  WJON

  • Local gas prices rose 16.1 cents to $3.74 as stalled US-Iran talks and mounting tensions in the Strait of Hormuz increased supply worries; drivers may see further cost hikes (analysts report ongoing market uncertainty).  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hundreds of high school students competed at River's Edge Convention Center for the Granite City Regional FIRST Robotics tournament held Thursday through Saturday (over 70 matches were played in a unique three-versus-three format).   • Center City Housing is proposing a 40-unit supportive housing complex for formerly homeless individuals after its Northway Drive project failed; a community meeting is set today from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the St. Anthony of Padua parish hall (the presentation starts at 5:30 p.m.).  KNSI

  • On April 10 and 11, local high school teams played in several baseball games where the Pierz Pioneers, Little Falls Flyers, and Kimball Cubs recorded strong hits and pitching performance (with detailed stats at home fields).
