COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Drivers in St. Cloud are advised to expect road closures this weekend as CentraCare hosts Earth Day runs. The 1K and 5K on Friday will close West St. Germain Street and other roads, while Saturday’s Half Marathon will affect travel, with law enforcement on site + assisting motorists.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wynonna Judd & Melissa Etheridge will perform with Maggie Rose at The Ledge Amphitheatre in Waite Park on Sunday, July 5; tickets start at $66.50.  WJON
  • St. Cloud State University will host a free planetarium concert on Saturday, April 18 at 4:00 p.m. in the Wick Science Building, where the ensemble Zeitgeist will perform immersive works by Minnesota composers as part of the MN Made Festival, followed by a night sky tour at 5:00 p.m.  KNSI
  • Made in Minnesota Expo returns to Rivers Edge Convention Center on Nov. 21 + the event celebrates local artisans and handmade creations and marks its 11th year after a hiatus last year.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • SCTCC is offering hands-on summer camps for kids (grades 3-12) with opportunities in robotics, culinary skills, healthcare, and volleyball available this summer. Camps run through June to August with varied fees and limited spots, so early registration is recommended.  WJON

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Weather Service urged St. Cloud residents to avoid driving through flooded roads during Severe Weather Awareness Week, stating heavy rains on Wednesday led to local disruptions and cautioning that more rain next week may raise river levels.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Cloud officials released a draft downtown plan that focuses on expanding housing and revitalizing key areas. Residents can review detailed designs and offer feedback at the open house on Wednesday, Apr. 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rivers Edge Convention Center.  KNSI
  • The St. Cloud Planning Commission approved a new Gate City Bank on the former Media Services site to offer better banking options and local jobs. The bank project still needs City Council approval and will employ about 20 to 25 staff.  WJON
  • The City of Sartell will hold an open house on May 11 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to present final redevelopment recommendations for the Mill District, the former Verso Paper Mill site, and invite public feedback.  KNSI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Plans for a 40-unit low-income apartment building near St. Anthony's Church were delayed after a Tuesday public hearing raised concerns among local residents. The Planning Commission postponed its vote so city staff from Center City Housing can address further questions.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Crush boys lacrosse team clinched a 9-8 win over Brainerd at Apollo High School on Tuesday and will face ROCORI today on the road + the team stands at 1-1 this season.  WJON
