  • Really Cool Living has moved to a prime spot at Crossroads Mall and expanded its showroom with a new mattress gallery and live edge wood pieces. Customers can visit near the Boot Barn entrance to explore locally sourced furniture (120-day guarantee, 10-year warranty for mattresses).  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local teacher Katie White Schad will dance with professional partner Dan Triplett at the Dancing With Our Stars Live charity event on Monday, June 8 at the College of St. Benedict—she will raise funds for the Paramount Center for the Arts to support local arts programs.  WJON
  • Country star Lee Brice is set to perform live at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park on Friday, June 12. Ticket presale begins online on Thursday, April 23 with code LEELEDGE and general sales start on Friday, April 24.  KNSI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Sartell-St. Stephen robotics team won the Granite City Regional last Saturday and will compete in the World Championship in Houston from April 29 to May 3. The team works with community partners + student fundraisers to cover travel costs.  WJON
  • A local education foundation awarded 16 grants totaling more than $27,000 to after-school programs in the district this spring. The grants support athletic teams and clubs at middle and high schools, including a new outdoor water station at North Junior High.  KNSI
  • St. Cloud State University teams with local employers for Walk In Wednesdays (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to help students build interviewing skills and learn about available job opportunities on campus. The program aims to improve student retention and career readiness.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Zoning Board of Appeals will consider a 370-foot variance request from applicants to build a cannabis facility 630 feet from Apollo High School Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The project, set in a former call center on McLeland Road, could create 85 jobs + add $19.6M to output.  KNSI

SPORTS NEWS

  • St. Ben's flag football team, which boasts a 5-1 record in its first season, is preparing for the Midwest Flag Football Championships on Saturday, Apr. 25 at TCO Stadium in Eagan. Head coach Joe Bartos said the team expects to be one of the top seeds in the playoffs.  WJON
