  • On Saturday, May 16, over 125 Mustangs will join the run in the St. Cloud area after a seven-year break; proceeds will benefit the Together with E.R.I.C. foundation for mental health and addiction support.  KNSI

  • Up In Smoke BBQ returns at its new location in Waite Park at Marketplace Mall on Saturday, April 25, offering its classic barbecue along with new dishes and extra seating for dining guests. The reopening follows a four month break after the restaurant closed to move.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cathedral High seniors are celebrating sports achievements as standout athletes prepare for college sports careers, with Bayley Schneider, Aubrey Lesnau, Jacob Oliver, and Griffin Sturm set to join college teams this fall and next year — 26 seniors will compete in college sports, representing nearly 28% of the graduating class.  WJON

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • With summer approaching, locals learn that while wolves, black bears and moose are usually harmless, deer, ticks and geese pose more risks. The advice comes as families plan outdoor activities and appreciate Minnesota’s natural beauty.  WJON
  • The Minnesota State Climatology Office invites central Minnesota residents to join the CoCoRaHS network by reporting rainfall using a standard 4-inch gauge. Volunteers complete online training and pay a discount rate for gauges to improve local weather maps.  KNSI
  • The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency clarified that ice cream tubs and many takeout containers are not accepted for recycling because of their plastic lining. Residents are advised to place these items plus plastic bags, greasy pizza boxes, coffee cups, shredded paper, and ceramics in the trash instead.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Minnesota DNR has previewed solid fishing opportunities for the opener on Saturday, May 9, noting walleye, northern pike & bass in central lakes while urging boaters to wear life jackets and manage water to curb invasive species.  KNSI
  • Today is the final day to donate during Huskies Giving Week at St. Cloud State, which has raised $126,000 to bolster its athletic teams. The campaign drew contributions from 825 donors, with baseball and hockey leading the way as supporters came from Minnesota and nearby states.  WJON
  • The Cathedral softball team remained undefeated after beating Milaca 13-1 on Wednesday, with CJ Jerzak scoring four hits and Berkley Mathiasen pitching five solid innings. The team will host Pierz on Monday to extend its win streak.  WJON
