COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Paramount Center for the Arts will host the Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota 2025 Spring Showcase on April 30th with a free event themed 'Our Imaginary Journey!' The event will include a youth art exhibit reception at 6:00 p.m. and stage performances at 7:00 p.m.—the artwork will be on display until Memorial Day with set viewing hours.  KNSI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, a sophomore on the Storm N’ Sabres junior varsity lacrosse team was severely injured at practice when a lacrosse ball struck the back of his head and he was taken to CentraCare—St. Cloud Hospital before being airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center where doctors say he will remain in intensive care for another two to three weeks.  KNSI

  • Arctic Cat, a Minnesota powersports company, was acquired this week by an investment group led by former executive Brad Darling & he will run it alongside his current firm Argo while the St. Cloud plant remains open despite Textron pausing operations last December. Details of the sale have not been disclosed.  St. Cloud Times
  • Books Revisited in downtown St. Cloud will celebrate Independent Bookstore Day today by offering a 20% discount on all items along with signed books, tote bags, tea from Spice of Life, and other unique giveaways. Other area stores are also hosting events to mark the day and support local shopping—showing the independent spirit of local bookstores.  St. Cloud Times

  • A 36-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in St. Cloud after police executed a search warrant at a home in the 1600 block of 10th Avenue Southeast—detectives found 23 marijuana plants, marijuana products, Psilocybin mushrooms, six guns and cash linked to drug sales.  KNSI

  • Apollo High School's renovated Performing Arts Center held its ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at 6:15 p.m. — the past event precedes performances of The Adams Family School Edition scheduled for today at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. — with a show set for Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  WJON

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Waite Park will host a free one-day e-waste recycling event on May 15th from 8:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. in partnership with Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and residents from Stearns, Sherburne, Benton and Mille Lacs counties may bring up to five devices such as TVs, computers and tablets for recycling until capacity is reached.  WJON
  • The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility will hold a free electronics recycling event on May 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for residents in Stearns, Sherburne, Benton and Mille Lacs Counties—each vehicle is limited to five items and the event accepts TVs, computers, printers, scanners and similar electronics while excluding phones, kitchen appliances, electronic razors and outdoor devices.  KNSI

  • St. Cloud released its 2024 Water Quality Report that shows how water is treated from January 1 to December 31 and explains how safe drinking water is maintained from the Mississippi River to the tap. The report covers topics such as the federal Lead and Copper Rule and upcoming upgrades—steps aimed at keeping our water resources safe.  City of St. Cloud
