ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Brooten man named Eric Segaar died when he was pinned under a John Deere DB66 planter after its hydraulic system failed around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday in North Fork Township—Brooten Fire Department, ambulance and Life Link Helicopter responded to the accident. KNSI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A St. Cloud father pleaded guilty to accidental manslaughter after he accidentally smothered his seven month old son while drunk nearly four years ago—he agreed to five years of probation, a 50 dollar fine and treatment—and his sentencing is set for July 2nd. KNSI
- ➤ A St. Cloud man pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery on December 11th after a theft at Taco Bell involving a Rolex and clothing worth over $10K—he faces a seven-year prison sentence and a $50 fine with sentencing set for May 13th. KNSI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Recent rains in Cass and Itasca Counties ended severe drought for much of Minnesota; only 22% of the state remains in moderate drought. Some areas still stay dry — heavy rains today in the worst-hit spots may bring further improvement next week. KNSI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota Senate passed a bipartisan agriculture budget bill late Wednesday with a 43-23 vote. The bill—authored by St. Cloud representative Aric Putnam—allocates $1 million to support a local food program, $600,000 for Farm to School programs, and funds to help farmers face challenges like avian influenza and extreme weather. - ➤ Area bus drivers are preparing to compete in the 2025 Metro Bus Roadeo on May 15 at the K-Lot on the St. Cloud State University campus—drivers will take on timed obstacle courses and acceleration tests in two divisions based on bus size, with winners advancing to state and international contests.
