COMMUNITY NEWS

  • City leaders invite residents to join a community workshop to share ideas on enhancing downtown St. Cloud+ officials plan to use local input to shape future improvement plans.  WJON

BUSINESS NEWS

  • StageWorks will open Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. in the historic Davidson Opera House on Fifth Avenue — offering flexible office rentals, coworking memberships, and pop-up spaces — in downtown St. Cloud. Its grand opening will coincide with a free bi-weekly networking event that spotlights local entrepreneurs and features high-speed internet from Arvig, a coffee bar by Kinder Coffee Lab, and programming by ILT Academy.  WJON
  • Two Central Minnesota law firms have formed a new firm called Revermann Lund Ross, also known as RLR, with main offices in Waite Park and Melrose to serve local clients. The women-led firm is made up of 9 professionals + 4 attorneys and will offer estate planning, probate, business real estate and employment law services.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Games by James will host a free Unmatched Tournament on May 17th at Noon—players will battle in three rounds with randomly assigned characters and receive prizes at the end. The store will also run a biweekly Star Wars Unlimited event and a Store Showdown on June 14th with a $20 fee—plus, new games like The Crew: Family Adventure, Toy Battle, Santorini 2nd Edition, and Critter Kitchen have recently arrived.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Local Education and Activities Foundation will cover all activity fees for District 742 middle schoolers for the next two years as it committed $100,000 — more than $30,000 has already been raised for the upcoming school year — giving students the chance to join sports and clubs.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • On May 3, College of St. Benedict won two softball games against Bethel University and Beth University as Ellie Peterson and Olivia Wallace helped secure the #2 MIAC playoff seed. In baseball, St. Scholastica split games with St. John’s and Bemidji State outscored St. Cloud State 9 to 7.  WJON
  • On Saturday, May 3, high school baseball and softball teams played games—St. John's Prep won 15 to 3 over Lake of the Woods and St. Cloud Cathedral claimed a 7 to 2 softball win over Springfield. Monday’s schedule will feature baseball matchups such as St. Cloud Cathedral versus Legacy Christian and ROCORI versus Becker—along with softball games like Royalton against Osakis as teams prepare for more contests this week.  WJON
