  • Today, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is underway for its 33rd year as customers leave bags of nonperishable food near their mailboxes for postal carriers to collect—each donated item stays local to support food shelves.  KNSI

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Cloud police are investigating complaints from women who say a man exposed himself from his vehicle between June 2024 and May 2025—police have named a person of interest and urge any further victims to call the St. Cloud Police Response Team immediately.  WJON
  • St. Cloud Police have a person of interest in an ongoing indecent exposure case that began in June 2024 when several women reported that a suspect waved them over to a vehicle before exposing himself — authorities urge any additional victims to come forward.  KNSI
  • A Stearns County judge sentenced 30-year-old Jarquez Bedford to life in prison without parole for murdering Waite Park resident Andrea Cottew during a February 2023 welfare check—he was convicted on three murder counts.  WJON
  • On Friday at about 3:45 p.m., St. Cloud police responded to a domestic dispute on the 600 block of 8th Avenue North when a woman reported that a man was threatening her and later lunged at an officer with a knife—officers shot the suspect, who was treated for a gunshot wound at CentraCare while the injured officer received first aid, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the ongoing investigation.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall to review a proposal for low-income apartments on the former YMCA site that was torn down in 2017. The plan calls for an apartment building with 40 one-room units (42 off-street parking spaces and a fee of $792 per unit instead of park land) designed to provide permanent supportive housing for extremely low-income residents.  KNSI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A new apartment building known as Elm Ridge Apartments is proposed for north St. Cloud to provide 40 units for low-income residents with 24/7 front desk and security — the project will use trauma-informed and harm-reduction principles and Center City Housing has requested a public hearing on Tuesday night to amend the plans for the former YMCA site on Northway Drive.  WJON
