The St. Cloud Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall to review a proposal for low-income apartments on the former YMCA site that was torn down in 2017.

The plan calls for an apartment building with 40 one-room units (42 off-street parking spaces and a fee of $792 per unit instead of park land) designed to provide permanent supportive housing for extremely low-income residents.

A new apartment building known as Elm Ridge Apartments is proposed for north St. Cloud to provide 40 units for low-income residents with 24/7 front desk and security — the project will use trauma-informed and harm-reduction principles and Center City Housing has requested a public hearing on Tuesday night to amend the plans for the former YMCA site on Northway Drive.
