COMMUNITY NEWS

  • FACT, the Rotary Club, and the St. Cloud Area School District are providing free food boxes to help families in crisis with food insecurity and homelessness in St. Cloud. Volunteers will pack the boxes on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at FACT headquarters—2625 Clearwater Road, and the boxes will be available on May 24 starting at 9:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.  WJON

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Cloud Police responded just before midnight on Sunday to a report of gunshots fired into a car on the 800 block of 21st Avenue North—after speaking with witnesses and stopping a vehicle with multiple bullet holes, they confirmed that the occupants knew the suspect, who remains at large.  WJON
  • St. Cloud police are searching for a suspect after a vehicle was shot at multiple times on the 800 block of 21st Avenue North last Saturday night — witnesses said the car left the scene and the three occupants, who were acquaintances of the suspected shooter, were not injured.  KNSI
  • A St. Joseph woman, 68-year-old Dorothy Soukup, was charged with three felony counts of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of threats of violence after she swerved her car toward a bicyclist near Graceview Drive on Monday — she also steered toward two pedestrians on 8th Street Northeast on Wednesday.  WJON

  • The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota is launching free summer programs for teens that include guided photography trips, Fortnite Fridays esports, truck simulator experiences, and t-shirt design classes. Registration is open and spaces are limited—interested members are encouraged to sign up to build creative skills and career potential.  KNSI
  • Anne Neilitz, principal at Prince of Peace Lutheran School, was named the 2025 Educator of the Year by Concordia University St. Paul — her leadership in creating dynamic and faith-filled classrooms earned the honor. The award recognizes her commitment to innovative Christian education and impact on students and families.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sherburne County veterans now have two new ride options through the Volunteer Transportation Network — the new vehicles provide free rides to the St. Cloud VA Medical Center and VA-referred care sites. Veterans must call at least two weeks ahead to book a ride.  WJON
  • The northbound lane of 10th Ave N will be closed from 1st St N to 2nd St N on Friday, May 23 (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) for road repairs as northbound traffic will be detoured, while southbound lanes remain open (no closure).  City of St. Cloud

  • ROCORI High School has named Coach Greg Enz interim head football coach for the Spartans in 2025, replacing James Herberg who joined St. John's University, and Activities Director Mitch Dorr said Enz brings over 25 years of coaching experience including 20 years as a head coach in Wisconsin—ensuring a smooth transition for the team.  WJON
