COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Heritage Preservation Commission announced awards for a century home and three restorations. Mary Kay Korman’s bungalow at 610 15th Street North met century home criteria, and awards honored the former Red Owl Food Store, restored Metzroth’s and Schumacher buildings, and the adapted Mackrell Building (former Dutch Maid Bakery).  KNSI
  • Applications are open for the new St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, which will train up to 30 emerging leaders over 10 full days across nine months. Applicants can save $50 if they apply before May 29, with the deadline on June 19 and interviews scheduled for mid-July.  WJON
  • Twitch, a 6-year-old chinchilla, is available for adoption at Tri-County Humane Society. He enjoys dust baths, running on his wheel, and getting comfortable with other pets (adoption holds are offered by calling 320-252-0896 or visiting during shelter hours).  WJON
  • On Friday, June 26 from 4-7 p.m., Lake George-Eastman Park hosts the free TouchATruck event for families, where visitors can explore emergency vehicles, heavy machinery, and enjoy live music from Bad Habits Brass, a petting zoo, vendors, and kids activities as part of Granite City Days (Park & Rock).  WJON
  • Rivers Edge Convention Center will host summer events in June and July including the Minnesota Quilters Show, a church gathering, a handbell concert and a summer benefit. The events are expected to draw nearly 17,000 visitors in downtown St. Cloud.  WJON
  • Summerland Family Fun Park in St. Cloud is set to open on Saturday, May 23, offering go-karts, mini golf, batting cages and bumper boats for family fun, and water rides will launch later this summer as weather allows.  WJON

  • A new Cinnabon shop is set to open soon at Crossroads Mall — next to the food court — signaling the return of cinnamon rolls beloved by locals.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sartell-St. Stephen High School students spent four days crafting life-sized tape sculptures with messages about friendship + focus as part of a campus art display running until May 28th.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Cloud officials have invited developers to submit proposals for a 3.27-acre lot once part of Technical High School (adjacent to Lake George) to support downtown revitalization, with submissions due by July 17.  WJON

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • New data reveals that residents should consider St. Augusta for its lower property taxes (compared to higher rates in St. Cloud and northern suburbs) as buyers weigh homeownership options.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Rox will host the Bismarck Larks in their 15th home opener on Friday, May 29 at Joe Faber Field (continuing a long-standing tradition). A guest will throw the first pitch, then engage with fans through autographs and photos.  WJON
