- ➤ Early this morning, St. Cloud firefighters rescued 11 ducklings—trapped in a storm drain—and returned them to their mother. KNSI
- ➤ KNSI’s summer picnic series, renamed Meet Your Neighbor, is happening today at Pantown Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering free hot dogs, chips, drinks, prizes and a chance for two kids to win a new bike. Additional picnics are set for June 18 at Ridgewood Park, July 16 at Riverside Park and August 4 at Eastman Park. KNSI
- ➤ St. Cloud Police Department will host its May Dog Walker Watch at Wilson Park Dog Park on Tuesday, May 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (if weather issues arise, the meeting will move to the police station) and the discussion will focus on current scams. KNSI

- ➤ HuHot Mongolian Grill will close its St. Cloud location at 3701 W Division St. on May 25 after Memorial Day. Residents holding gift cards are urged to use them soon as the restaurant thanks the community. St. Cloud Times

- ➤ In Cold Spring, the annual Rock The River concert series will kick off on Thursday, June 4 at Alexander Park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. as Crystal Breeze performs to honor local heroes while food vendors and kids' activities add family fun for summer evenings. WJON
- ➤ Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer with local events as Paula Poundstone performs standup at the Paramount Center Friday at 7:30 p.m. and a fabric printing class runs at the B-Side Indie Café Saturday for $40; nearby, country music and an oddities expo offer more options. WJON
- ➤ The Stearns History Museum in St. Cloud opened its new Cabinet of Curiosities exhibit this week, featuring historical items such as a two-headed pig and a miniature circus that replace an older display. The exhibit will run until early next year during regular museum hours. WJON
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cathedral School will see a leadership change this summer as longtime principal Kathy Crispo retires. Richard McMorrow, who has 35 years of experience (teaching and coaching included), is named principal while Tanya Vossberg steps in as assistant principal. WJON
- ➤ Students at SCSU and SCTCC will pay more for classes this fall after the Board of Trustees passed the new budget Wednesday. SCSU tuition will rise from $9,385 to $9,960 (6.13%) and SCTCC from $5,607 to $5,964 (6.37%), with system-wide hikes averaging 6.25%. KNSI
- ➤ Sauk Rapids-Rice High School honored 20 college-bound students at its Signing Day celebration, recognizing 18 athletes and 2 fine arts students with awards like Athlete of the Year given to Ally Lucas and Carter Riedeman & noting their commitment to college success. WJON
- ➤ The Sartell-St. Stephen robotics team, working with ROCORI and Pequot Lakes, clinched the state championship on Saturday, May 16 with record-breaking scores that showed the students' skill and teamwork. WJON

- ➤ Black bears have emerged from their dens this spring as adult males roam farther in search of food, prompting early morning sightings in local neighborhoods. The Minnesota DNR advises residents to secure outdoor food sources and keep a safe distance. WJON

- ➤ Waite Park Mayor Schmitt announced plans for new apartment complexes and a full-time fire chief at Wednesday's state of the city address at the Ledge Amphitheatre (a move aimed at boosting community engagement) as future investments and staffing improvements are planned. WJON

- ➤ St. Cloud V.A. is helping veterans quit tobacco by offering nicotine patches, gum, and medication management ahead of World No Tobacco Day on May 31. The facility will also hold a Memorial Day ceremony on May 25 at the Medical Center in Building 96. WJON

- ➤ The Cathedral Crusaders secured a 5-0 win over Pequot Lakes Tuesday in Waite Park and will face Pierz today at the College of St. Benedict. Kimball and Melrose also advanced in their playoff matches. WJON
