- ➤ Metro Vets will hold an annual Memorial Day observance at the VA Medical Center building 96 parking lot in St. Cloud on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with an honor guard parade—later at 11:00 a.m., VA Health Administration Director Brian Douty will speak at the ceremony. WJON

- ➤ Explore Minnesota has named Val’s one of the best places in the state to get a burger — the small eatery on East St. Germain Street, open since Memorial Day, continues to serve juicy burgers and specialty shakes to loyal locals and new faces every day. KNSI
- ➤ An analysis of Minnesota's fast food chains shows Subway leads with 395 locations while other popular chains like Caribou Coffee and Starbucks are also well represented statewide—St. Cloud hosts at least one location for each of the top 10 chains, giving local diners many familiar choices. WJON
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The St. Cloud Zoning Board of Appeals postponed its decision on a proposed daycare at the former Ace Bar + Grill site at 423 East St. Germain Street because local business owners worry about traffic and safety with a plan to serve 100 children and build a 2,786-square-foot outdoor play area. Community Development Director Matt Glaesman said the board will work with all sides to develop a safe plan before the June meeting. KNSI
- ➤ The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing and updating the Stearns County Road 137 bridge over Highway 15 in St. Cloud and Waite Park on June 2nd with road closures from Dublin Drive to West St. Germain Street and lane reductions on Highway 15. Drivers must follow the detour via West St. Germain Street/33rd Avenue SW—2nd Street South to 2nd Avenue South as the project is set to complete in late August. WJON
- ➤ The St. Cloud Police Department will host its monthly Dog Walker Watch meeting at Wilson Park Dog Park on Tuesday, May 27th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.—attendees will learn about summer events and the Metro Citizen Police Academy while their dogs play. KNSI

- ➤ Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Cloud launched a Veterans Compassionate Care Fund that will run from Memorial Day to Veterans Day and aims to raise at least $250,000 to help veterans in need. The fund, inspired by 30-year-old veteran Matthew Strong’s stay, will use a $60,000 donor match to help offset the daily $645 hospice cost. WJON
