  • Beaver Island Brewing Company hosts a fundraiser tonight from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. as part of its Tending For A Cause series to support the St. Cloud Tiger Robotics Club, a 501(c)(3) organization that backs programs at South Junior High and Tech High School; purchases donate $1 per drink.  KNSI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dave's Hot Chicken will open its first St. Cloud restaurant in late fall at Rivertown Village Shopping Center, 3959 2nd Street South, Suite 214 (approx. 2600 sqft). Franchise co-owner Alex Humphries said the new location is part of an ongoing expansion across Minnesota.  KNSI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Stearns History Museum hosts a 1970s car show next Thursday, June 4 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., featuring free museum access, car contests with prizes, pizza + beer from Third Street Brewery, and $10 registration for vehicles.  WJON
  • The Live Performance Showcase at the Paramount Center will host 12 acts on Sunday, June 7 and Monday, June 8, with each artist performing a 20-minute set; tickets cost $10 each night + each evening features a unique lineup of local and state talent.  WJON
  • Summer brings three events: Paranormal Cirque Inferno presents horror acrobatics behind Target at Crossroads Center with shows through Monday, Pantown Brewing hosts a free dance party Saturday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and the Rox start baseball season Friday at Joe Faber Field with fireworks and a Brian Harper meet-and-greet.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sartell-St. Stephen boards approved a cellphone policy that will restrict phones and other electronic devices for K-12 students during the school day starting in the 2026-2027 school year, with exceptions for medical and special education needs + extending a practice already used in middle school.  WJON
  • Teacher Samantha Reece from Upsala Area Schools, noted for her 9 years in Special Education, has been named Teacher of the Month and will receive local awards including a custom tumbler and plaque from community partners.  WJON
  • Five St. Cloud Area School District students will compete at the Midwest Chinese Speech Finals (held at Walter Payton College Prep High School in Chicago) this Saturday, aiming to win medals and a chance to advance to the Beijing contest. They advanced after excelling in earlier rounds.  WJON
  • Voters in Minnesota will decide on a constitutional amendment that lets schools get more money from the Permanent School Fund this fall, without raising taxes. Lawmakers and educators say the proposed funding increase (from about 2.5% to 4.5%) could help districts better support students.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Last week, CentraCare Foundation held its La Gratitude celebrations in St. Cloud—honoring donors and community leaders for supporting local health care. The event also awarded the Caduceus Award to Dr. Phil Boyle.  KNSI

  • On Tuesday, May 26, the Cathedral Crusaders beat Kimball 11-1 in the section playoffs to move one win away from the state tournament, while the Sartell Sabres blanked ROCORI 10-0 and the St. Cloud Crush won 19-6 over Monticello in the elimination round.  WJON
