COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On June 9th at 8:00 p.m., the Women’s Fund of Central Minnesota raised $300,132 for women and girls at its ninth annual Dancing With Our Stars, Live! event held at the College of Saint Benedict’s Escher Auditorium. Local winners such as St. Cloud Fire Chief Matt Love and professional dancer Savanna Bain raised $67,440 for the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation. KNSI
- ➤ The Lake George Fishing Club will host a free fishing program for kids on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. until August 15 at the east boathouse where equipment is provided and staff help with catch-and-release rules. On July 25 the club will hold its first Badges and Bobbers event — local first responders will teach and share fishing tips with kids to build community ties. KNSI
- ➤ 11-year-old Ally Roehrl from Rockville makes and sells homemade dog treats every Wednesday at Cold Spring Farmer’s Market to raise funds for Camp Watch Me—a camp for kids with lymphedema. She plans to raise $3,000 by the end of October and has already raised over $400 while sharing her own experience with the condition. WJON

- ➤ A Sartell couple were charged with multiple felony counts for filing false tax returns and misrepresenting filing statuses from 2019 through 2023+ investigators say the charges include allegations of falsely claiming welfare benefits and over $50,000 in tax discrepancies between them. KNSI

- ➤ Country music stars Tracy Lawrence and Josh Turner will co-headline a tour—marking their first two-step together—at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park on September 25th. Tickets go on sale this Friday—via Ticketmaster at 10:00 a.m. KNSI

- ➤ The ROCORI School Board is finalizing its 2025-2026 budget and will vote on the final plan on June 23rd after state funding has stabilized—Superintendent Enerson said no major cuts are expected as enrollment holds steady and regular budget adjustments continue. WJON
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents, farmers and businesses in Stearns County can apply for a grant to help recycle old tires. The county offers reimbursement grants up to $2,500 through the S.C.O.R.E. program — applicants must pay at least 25% of the cost and submit an application with a W-9 form and a disposal plan using a licensed recycling facility. - ➤ Dr. Leah Thronaum explained that migraines are not typical headaches but intense episodes that can block normal activities like walking and bending+ they come with symptoms such as light and sound sensitivity, nausea, and appetite changes. She noted that migraines can run in families—with a 50% chance if both parents had them—and that after puberty, females are more likely to experience them. WJON
