- ➤ Sauk Rapids River Days festival (a local celebration) will light up town today with a Rock the Riverside concert at 5:30 p.m. by Jennifer Lamb-Randolph and Nick Scott and a Miss Sauk Rapids Pageant at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School beginning at 6:00 p.m. The event will continue with a parade on Friday featuring over 80 units and 16 marching bands with cash awards for best decorated float, and a food fest on Saturday at Municipal Park (with over two dozen food vendors raising funds for local scholarships). - ➤ St. Cloud’s Granite City Days summer festival runs today through Sunday with events including the 52nd annual Lemonade Art Fair and Rock On Awards at SCSU today at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., a Friday park event at Lake George, a Saturday parade starting at 10 a.m. with downtown patio festivities, and Fred Yiran African Arts Day on Sunday plus family activities and local vendor offerings. - ➤ Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum said a new hotel will be announced in July near Highway 15 with a groundbreaking planned for the end of July, and Niron Magnetics will close on its property within 60 days to bring high-paying jobs to the area—among the city’s largest new employers—while boosting local economy. - ➤ Stearns County ruled that 18-year-old Israel Muyaya Madimba is competent to stand trial for first degree murder and vehicle theft after he stole a vehicle from the YMCA and ran over 70-year-old Norbert Olmscheid in 2023; a hearing is set for today following a third Rule 20 exam ordered in April and results sent on June 10—prosecutors confirm Olmscheid died at CentraCare. - ➤ St. Cloud officials invite residents to share their views on the new Comprehensive Plan to shape the city’s future. The input will help set near-term & long-term priorities for community issues. City of St. Cloud
- ➤ The St. Cloud Fire Department said it will hold a community push-in ceremony in mid-August for two new trucks— a fire engine for station three near Talahi Community School and a ladder truck for station two near the Municipal Athletic Complex. The trucks were ordered in October 2022 and will soon join the department to help respond to emergencies. KNSI
- ➤ Sartell, Waite Park, and Sauk Rapids have received over $1.1 million from the state Active Transportation Infrastructure Grant Program to improve pedestrian and shared-use paths. Sartell will install speed signs and flashing beacons on Pinecone Road and 7th Street North, while Waite Park and Sauk Rapids will enhance crossings and extend trails—construction in Sauk Rapids is set to begin in 2027. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Central Minnesota Sheriff’s Department received a LUCAS device from the University of Minnesota Center for Resuscitation Medicine to automatically perform chest compressions during cardiac arrest calls—letting deputies focus on transporting patients to the hospital. The Center will study the device's use over the next year as part of an $18 million grant from the Helmsley Charitable Trust. KNSI
