Good morning, St. Cloud.
Rapids River Days celebrated the weekend with a parade that began lining up Friday at 5:00 p.m. and stepped off at 6:00 p.m. More than 80 units — including 16 marching bands and a variety of community groups — joined the procession along 6th Avenue beginning at 11th Street North, while judges prepared to award cash prizes for the best decorated floats.
Granite City Days ended Friday at Eastman Park along Lake George, where families enjoyed live music + vendor village, food trucks and fun activities like a touch-a-truck event and petting zoo.
Today the celebration continues downtown with a parade at 10:00 a.m. and a patio party before closing Sunday with the Fred Yiran African Arts Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
On Thursday near Albany at the intersection of County Road 157 and 248th Avenue, a Chevy Silverado pickup rolled off the road, injuring Diego Sanchez, age 21, with minor injuries and Oscar Ramirez Mendez, age 20, who suffered a facial cut and arm injury—both were treated at the scene and taken to Melrose Hospital.
St. Cloud streamer Aaron Imholte broke his court rules by sharing an explicit image without consent, leading the judge to change his release conditions and set his sentencing for October 2nd at 11 a.m.—the decision came after reports of further breaches during his live stream.
Approximately 2,000 alumni from St. John's and the College of Saint Benedict will gather this weekend in St. Joseph for reunion festivities that include beach bashes, social events at local bars, and lodging in hotels or residence halls.
The event targets graduates from years ending in 0 or 5 (such as the 1975 class celebrating 50 years) and has been a tradition for about 10 years (a complement to fall homecoming).
The City of Waite Park said Great Oak Drive near River’s Edge Park will close today for several hours for storm sewer work and again on June 30th — the road will be open for the weekend and drivers must use the 3rd Street North entrance.
