  • Today during the 4th of July weekend, Summerland celebrates 40 years as it offers waterslides, go‐kart tracks, mini‐golf and other rides. The park is located 2 miles east of St. Cloud on Highway 23 — it is open daily from noon until 7 p.m. during the summer.  WJON
  • On Wednesday night, Military Appreciation Night at Joe Faber Field raised $8,620 for local veterans during the Rox game against the Minot Hot Tots—custom military-themed jerseys were auctioned to support TriUnity Foundation grants that help cover veterans' expenses.  KNSI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • St. Cloud police said a speeding pickup truck crashed near 13th Street North and 10th Avenue North on July 3 when it t-boned a car, killing local residents Suleiman Mohamud Abdi and Craig Arthur Hennen—both of whom are from the area—with 26-year-old Christopher Cortez Johnson-Caine of Sauk Rapids taken in critical condition to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital after fleeing a traffic stop where he threw a gun.  KNSI
  • Trooper Mollie McClure died in an off-duty drowning accident at Waubay Lake in South Dakota on Sunday—she served in St. Cloud since October 2021 and earned respect as a mentor while a video of her rescuing a baby deer went viral.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Do Portugal — a Spanish traveling circus — will set up a big blue tent in the Crossroads Center mall north parking lot for shows from July 11th through the 20th. The troupe, which has performed in seven countries and includes aerialist Eva Rodriguez, will offer tickets online for under $20.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison warned on Thursday about door-to-door salesmen using high-pressure tactics to secure contracts for pest control or lawn services—he urged residents to take time to review offers before signing—and reported that victims should alert his office to scams.  KNSI
  • County Road 2 and Minnesota Street near Interstate 94 in St. Joseph will close for nearly two months starting Tuesday for roundabout construction—drivers will be rerouted on County Highway 75 and Highway 23 until the project wraps up by late August. Officials advise using alternate routes as weather may shift the timeline.  KNSI
  • The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources launched Operation Dry Water today to catch intoxicated boat drivers during the busy Fourth of July weekend—conservation officers will arrest violators and enforce severe penalties including loss of boating, car or recreational privileges—with the campaign running through July 7th.  KNSI
