COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Cloud Parks and Recreation will host a free month of family events. The Pop-Up Splash Pad will be held at Rotary East Park on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.—with a fire truck spraying water and a squad car for kids to explore—while a Bubble Bash on July 18 at Haws Park and a fishing outing on July 25 will follow, all funded by local sponsors and the city budget.  WJON
  • A Minnesota author and early education specialist, Thuba Nguyen, will read her heartfelt children’s book 'My Daddy Tells Me…' at St. Cloud Books Revisited on Saturday, July 12th at 10:30 a.m. The free event includes a raffle for ten donated books—families are urged to arrive early due to limited seating—and street parking is available along West St. Germain Street.  KNSI
  • The City of St. Cloud will host a bubble bash at Haws Park on July 18th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. that features a kids DJ, games, eco-friendly soap, and an inflatable slide—an additional bubble bash is planned for August.  KNSI

CRIME NEWS

  • A Sartell man—43-year-old Travis Peterlin—pleaded guilty to tricking a vulnerable Isanti County woman into giving him over $143,000 by convincing her to loan him more than $50,000 for a pickup he never bought and by collecting checks for work that was not done.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers are advised to avoid County Highway 75 near Crossroads Center Mall as intermittent road work will begin Monday between Highway 15—County Highway 81 in Waite Park and last until the 24th, while work on CSAH 81/3rd Street North continues until mid-October with Highway 23 available as a detour.  KNSI
  • St. Cloud City Council will hold a meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall—residents can share comments on proposals to lower the grass height limit from 10 to 8 inches, expand NuWay Mission Baptist Church’s daycare, and build a 58-unit affordable senior housing project called Vista on Pinecone. City officials say the changes aim to improve code enforcement and ease a local housing shortage, and residents may submit comments in person or by letter.  KNSI
  • Crews will begin planned road maintenance on Division Street between Highway 15 and County Road 81 near Parkwood Cinema starting Monday and lasting intermittently for three weeks—drivers should take alternate routes to avoid delays.  WJON

HEALTH NEWS

  • Golfers raised over $125,000 at a CentraCare Golf Scramble on June 26 at Lynx National Golf Course in Sauk Centre to support clinics in Long Prairie, Melrose, and Sauk Centre. Officials said the funds will pay for new equipment and the expansion of services as 200 golfers and volunteers participated.  KNSI
