- ➤ Catholic Charities of St. Cloud named Andrew Johannes as its new chief financial officer. He brings more than 20 years of accounting work from his time as president and chief executive at C4 Welding in Sauk Rapids and a degree from St. Cloud State University and will lead the charity's finance team. - ➤ Botor Village has closed after three years at 711 W. St. Germain St.—the restaurant opened in 2022 to serve Mediterranean and Ethiopian meals and aimed to revive downtown. Its storefront now displays rental details for a creative connoisseur looking to establish a new venture. St. Cloud Times
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Olivia Williams was sentenced in Benton County Court for aiding a suspect who fled after a February shooting left a teenager dead and a man seriously injured — her plea deal requires 30 days in jail, three years of probation, and restitution while barring contact with the victims’ families. - ➤ Caleb Oberg, the former majority owner of St. Cloud-based Oberg Roofing, is charged with five felony fraud counts for allegedly taking nearly $240,000 from customers between July 2023 and September 2024 and was arrested in Missouri on Thursday, July 10th—Stearns County officials now await his extradition. - ➤ Minnesota lawmakers, including Tom Emmer and Michelle Fischbach, sent a letter to Ambassador Kirsten Hillman urging Canada to strengthen forest management after another summer of wildfire smoke and risky air quality. The letter cited record wildfire years and called on Canada to use available technology to help prevent future fires—aiming to reverse the worrisome trend. KNSI
