  • Ember Coffee in Big Lake won the gold medal for the Coffee and Coffee House categories at the Minnesota Best awards on Sunday—marking its third straight win—and also secured top honors for Minnesota Made Food and Beverage Products. Owners thanked loyal fans for supporting its signature low-acidity brews.  WJON
  • Millside Tavern in St. Michael was voted Minnesota’s best burger joint for the second year in a contest held last Sunday—voters selected it over competitors Crooked Pint and Arden Hills Steakhouse. The tavern, known for its old-school style and word-of-mouth reputation, offers 16 burger options and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. and at noon on Sunday—local diners continuously return to its time-honored charm.  WJON

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City of St. Cloud is inviting residents to volunteer for the Adopt-a-Drain and Adopt-a-Pond programs—each volunteer will help keep drains clear and reduce pollution from trash in local waterways like the Mississippi River, Lake George, and the Sauk River. The city will provide all necessary supplies and recognize community efforts.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Central Minnesota face reduced visibility at intersections as tall corn blocks sight lines; MN-Dot expert Bill Van Koevering advises all road users to stop at corners—even without stop signs—to prevent potential crashes. This safety tip applies to motorists, cyclists, and others using rural roads during the growing season.  WJON
  • Sartell City Council approved sewer and water utility work and opened bids for a quarter-mile trail — linking the pedestrian bridge to the dam — as part of the Mill District project. Utility work will start in August and trail construction will begin in the fall and finish by next spring.  WJON
  • Sartell began its temporary road construction projects today as crews start overlay work that pulls up and recycles blacktop for smoother rides. 13th Avenue North from 2nd Street North to Pinecone Central is closed for lane shifts—city staff remind drivers to remain courteous and thank crews for handling the heat.  KNSI
