- ➤ Gail Cruikshank and Jackie Johnson said volunteers keep Big Brothers Big Sisters running by pairing caring mentors with youth. The program now requires as little as 2 hours a month from October to May — a benefit that supports improved health, education, and future earnings as shown in Harvard research. WJON

- ➤ St. Cloud police are searching for Lierra Lanea Andrews, a 5-foot, 100-pound teenager last seen Friday evening from the 100 block of 4th Avenue South—she was wearing a red sweatshirt and jean shorts and is considered endangered. KNSI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for its Explorer Program for youth ages 15 to 20 interested in public safety careers such as law enforcement, dispatch, and corrections—participants will receive training in law enforcement procedures and first aid and can attend an informational meeting on August 17th at 6:00 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center on Courthouse Square in St. Cloud. - ➤ Minnesota's state government will open the e-bike rebate lottery at 11:00 a.m. on July 30 to offer 75% off eligible expenses for low-income residents and people with disabilities, with 2,800 rebates available by lottery. Applicants selected by email must use their rebate certificate within two months (eligibility is based on income or disability) and the application window will close at 2:00 p.m. on August 7. WJON
- ➤ The intersection of Lincoln Avenue Southeast and 7th Street Southeast in St. Cloud closed Monday, July 21 for utility work and will remain closed until Friday, July 25 as part of a $5.7 million project to upgrade water mains, sidewalks, and streets — traffic is rerouted along Highway 23/Division Street with detour signs posted. - ➤ State Senator Nicole Mitchell was convicted of felony burglary charges for breaking into her estranged stepmother’s Detroit Lakes home+Senator Aric Putnam now calls for her resignation to honor her promise, a move that could set off a special election in her Woodbury-area district. KNSI
- ➤ Sartell closed a block of 7th Street North from Riverside Drive to 1st Avenue North until mid-August to allow crews to complete utility work as part of the West Side Reconstruction project—officials advise drivers to use 12th Street North near Riverview Intermediate School and Coborn’s grocery store.
