- ➤ St. Cloud’s Spee-Dee Delivery has launched Spee-Dee Shipit— a system that offers real-time package tracking and shipment scheduling for customers in 10 states— to improve shipping with secure cloud-based access. WJON
- ➤ After 40 years, the pawn shop at 623 West St. Germain in St. Cloud closed and will become a vintage store called Metz and Co that honors its past as Metzroths clothing store. Co-owner Chad O'Brien plans to update the space and open the store by November 1—bringing a new spot for vintage shoppers downtown. WJON

- ➤ Hamdi Hussein Omar pleaded guilty on August 1st to wire fraud for misrepresenting the distribution of half a million meals from a Waite Park site — adding to over 50 convictions in the Feeding Our Future scandal aimed at defrauding taxpayers of $1.4 million. KNSI

- ➤ A new series on WJON recounts St. Cloud’s bar history with local venues like Hombre DeMundo and Domino Club that once hosted live music, dancing and even mud wrestling. Local historians Mark Bragelman — who recalled that many patrons gathered here after work — and Jim Grabinski shared how these spots evolved to shape the city's nightlife. WJON

- ➤ Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota launched its Powering Potential campaign—aiming to recruit 100 new adult mentors to match with over 150 local kids as part of the back-to-school effort. The campaign uses chalk art on sidewalks and will end with a wrap-up event on September 18th at Millstream Park in St. Joseph. WJON
- ➤ At the new University of Minnesota Medical School CentraCare Regional Campus in St. Cloud, orientation will begin on August 18th for 96 students. Associate Dean Dr. Jill Amsberry said faculty will prepare students for rural medicine in Greater Minnesota by adding local training sessions—giving them hands-on experience in rural clinics. KNSI

- ➤ Today, the University of Minnesota Extension named the Udermann Family as the Stearns County Dairy Farm Family of the Year for their leadership in regenerative farming at Meadowbrook Dairy Inc. near Sartell—this fifth-generation farm spans over 1,000 acres, operates with 80 dairy cows and beef steers, and runs a direct-to-consumer grass-fed beef business for customers across Minnesota. - ➤ Residents on the East Side face road construction on Lincoln Ave as utility work and storm sewer repairs are underway from August 4th to 8th—drivers should use the alternate 7th Street SE intersection to reach businesses. The 4th Street SE intersection will be closed for up to three days in the coming weeks and contractors plan to finish the project by October. WJON
- ➤ The Waite Park City Council considered cannabis business applications from Frontera, LLC at 1001 Division Street and Minnesota Cannabis, Inc. at 236 Second Avenue South and authorized advertising bids for a trail project that will connect sidewalks near the pickleball courts along 3rd Street and 15th Avenue in the Stearns County 81 right-of-way. The meeting began Monday at 6:00 p.m. — construction will start after MnDOT approval and finish early July — and staff noted both applications had met all requirements. KNSI

- ➤ CentraCare is expanding its orthopedic urgent care services at CentraCare Plaza and Monticello Specialty Clinic to offer walk-in evaluations for injuries. The Plaza clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. + the Monticello clinic is available Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. WJON
