- ➤ District 742’s Early Childhood Family Education expo will celebrate early learning and families on September 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Quarryview Education Center — the free event will give welcome gifts to the first 300 attendees. KNSI
- ➤ On Tuesday, community members will join local first responders at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Sauk Rapids from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to watch K9 demos, sit in SWAT vehicles, and enjoy free food along with other activities — this event was rescheduled after an earlier summer postponement. - ➤ KC and the Sunshine Band and Village People will perform classic disco hits at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park tonight—offering a live set of fan-favorite tunes like YMCA and Get Down Tonight. KNSI
- ➤ Music lovers will gather in Sauk Rapids on Thursday evening for the free Rock the Riverside Concert Series at The Clearing—Trace Elements Duo will perform from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. and Rival 5 will follow with rock and pop hits from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. KNSI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The St. Cloud Area School District is launching its first comprehensive review of elementary school boundaries in over 20 years to solve enrollment challenges in its 250-square-mile district using a data-driven approach with a core team of 10-12 members. The district will collect broader community input in November and present final recommendations to the school board in December. KNSI
- ➤ St. Cloud State University is nearing a sale of Selke Field with three bidders competing as Interim President Larry Dietz said a recommended bidder who plans to preserve the field as green space was sent to the board — the winning bid and sale cost will be announced by the end of the month once final steps are completed. - ➤ Sherburne County has begun a major Highway 10 safety project near New Haven east of St. Cloud; single-lane closures are in effect between 32nd Street SE and 52nd Street SE until October 10 as crews realign intersections and close access at 42nd Street SE, with a detour route using +County Roads 8 SE, 16, 7, and 60+. - ➤ Fishing in Central Minnesota is more challenging as warm weather slows fish activity and increases boat traffic — Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News said anglers should fish early or late to catch bass and pan fish. He added that Lake Mille Lacs may soon change its walleye limit and new hunting rules, including deer licensing and bear baiting starting August 15, are set to affect local outdoor sports. WJON
