COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local children and teenagers will experience free airplane rides this Saturday morning at St. Cloud Regional Airport with 60 spots available + families must pre-register online and have a parent or guardian sign a consent form on-site + the program aims to spark an interest in flying.  KNSI
  • St. Cloud’s food trucks—serving options from barbecue to burritos and cheese curds—invite local residents to vote for their favorite until 8:30 p.m. on September 17.  St. Cloud Times
  • Grey Face Rescue and Retirement is hosting its Decade of Dogs party on Saturday, October 11th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pantown Brewing Company in St. Cloud—this free event will feature live music, a food truck, local vendors, giveaways, Grey Face merchandise, and adoptable senior dogs.  KNSI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The ROCORI Dance Team invites kids in grades 2–7 to a dance clinic this Friday at Cold Spring Elementary—where they will learn a pom dance and later perform it at halftime during the Spartans football game. The $42 fee covers a snack, pizza dinner, game admission, a t-shirt and a set of pom poms—supporting the team's fundraiser efforts.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Impacks — a local nonprofit from St. Cloud — remains in the MN Cup by winning the Education and Training division and earning $25,000. The group creates customized school supply kits at $60 each and holds online drives as it aims for a $50,000 grand prize in October.  KNSI
  • Twenty-four first-year medical students began their studies today at the new University of Minnesota Medical School campus in CentraCare Plaza—this modern building was upgraded from an unfinished space and will train doctors for rural areas.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Jake Anderson will host the annual Day of Remembrance 9/11 Ceremony next Thursday—marking the 24th anniversary of the terror attacks at the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and a downed flight in Pennsylvania—at 5:00 p.m. at the St. Cloud Police Department on 101 11th Avenue North.  KNSI

HEALTH NEWS

  • With school starting soon, therapist Liz Reihm advised students to manage anxiety by focusing on the present (her guidance is especially helpful for newcomers) and not dwelling on past fears (a mild worry can prepare students without overwhelming them).  WJON
