COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mayor Anderson invites residents to join him for the Day of Remembrance 9/11 Ceremony on September 11—featuring speeches by the police and fire chiefs, an invocation and benediction by local pastors, and the National Anthem performed by Janelle Kendall, while the event will also include a wreath ceremony, bell ringing, an honor guard, and a rifle salute with support from the St. Cloud Fire Department Honor Guard and MetroVets.  City of St. Cloud
  • The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park will host beginner yoga sessions led by Shanti Yoga Center from September 16th to 30th—marking the final outdoor classes of 2025. The sessions cost $18 each and are held near Quarry Park and Nature Preserve.  KNSI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • St. Cloud startup Impacks, led by Brandon and Clare Richards, won a $25,000 prize at the Minnesota Cup and will compete for an extra $50,000 at the Grand Finale on October 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center — the prize money will help the company grow.  WJON

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Cloud Police stated that Stuart William Hanmer was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 3 in Moorhead over allegations he poisoned his roommate, Cody Ray Ernst, who died on June 22 after a hospital admission on July 20 due to lethal thallium poisoning—making it the third homicide this year.  St. Cloud Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Wirth Center for the Performing Arts will leave its current home at Mary Center because the building is hard to access and its temperature swings harm the instruments — 199,000 dollars in grants will help it move into the Daniel Building on 7th Avenue North with renovations starting in December and finishing the first phase by June 2026.  KNSI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Cloud State University will begin public bids later this month to upgrade the Herb Brooks Hockey Center with a $12.9 million chiller replacement—new equipment using ammonia refrigerant will replace the outdated R-22 system—and construction will run from March until September 2026.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Cloud Representative Dan Wolgamott announced his campaign for state auditor after Julie Blaha said she would not run for another term; he said his work on finance and pension committees revealed waste and fraud in social services that he plans to address. He will boost the auditor’s office—giving it power to audit, inspect, investigate and enforce actions against state agencies.  KNSI

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • St. Cloud area restaurants now offer outdoor dining to take advantage of the warm weather — options include waterfront spots, brewery patios, and quiet patios in nearby Sauk Rapids and St. Joseph. Guests can choose from many venues, such as Pantown Brewing and Jimmy’s Pour House, to enjoy their meals outdoors.  St. Cloud Times
