COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Since 2014, ROCORI Action Packs has been giving about 100 meal packs each week to kids so they have food on weekends—working with local schools to distribute meals discreetly. The program has delivered over 35,000 packs in 11 years and continues to fight hunger in Central Minnesota.  WJON
  • Cheryl Hommerding is organizing A Night To Remember — a formal dance for adults with disabilities at Waters Church in Sartell on Friday, September 26th at 6:00 p.m. The free event offers a red carpet arrival, food from Coyote Moon Grill and free formal attire including over 100 dresses and some men's suits in north St. Cloud — with space for up to 150 guests.  WJON
  • Grey Face Rescue, a local nonprofit caring for senior animals, will mark ten years on October 11 at Pantown Brewing from 12pm to 3pm — the event features live music, food trucks, local vendors, giveaways and exclusive merchandise for supporters.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Gnarly Bard Theater in downtown St. Cloud is hosting the Ted Godbout Quartet for a jazz night this Friday — the doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. and tickets costing $18.  WJON
  • American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will perform at the Paramount Center for the Arts on Friday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. He will deliver a show featuring a mix of his biggest R&B hits, new tunes and tributes—highlighting the classic sounds that have shaped his career.  KNSI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association has opened applications for its 2025 Law Enforcement Scholarship Program — awarding up to eighteen $2,000 scholarships to law enforcement students who meet academic and financial need requirements. Applicants must submit forms to their local sheriff office by November 21st and winners will be announced on December 30th.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sartell City Council approved projects to improve local roads—Design Electric, Inc. won the contract to add a new traffic signal on Pine Cone Road and a public hearing for the West Side Reconstruction Project is set for October 14th at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.  WJON
  • St. Cloud City Council approved a new budget with a tax hike on Monday night to support a new fire station and replace old vehicles under Mayor Jake Anderson's plan. The council voted six to one & said the city must keep a 40% reserve to maintain its bond rating, with state aid details due in December.  KNSI

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Mom Nikki Bettis and her seven children are paddling down the Mississippi River after leaving Lake Bemidji in early August and are now 400 miles into their journey as they head toward Minneapolis. They plan to finish the 2350 mile trip by Thanksgiving and use kayaks, canoes and a weekly support vehicle—hoping to inspire other families to enjoy the outdoors.  KNSI
