- ➤ The St. Cloud Craft Beer and Cider Fest will debut an Oktoberfest theme on Saturday, September 13 at Dick Putz Field with VIP ticket holders entering at 1:00 p.m. and general admission at 2:00 p.m.; the event will feature 40 craft beverage vendors, Bavarian-themed food trucks, live music by Way Up North, and special tickets for designated drivers to support United Way. - ➤ The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Fall Color Finder shows that the St. Croix Valley has reached 25% of its peak fall color while small patches of color are seen in parts of Morrison, Benton and Stearns Counties. Peak color will come in St. Cloud by mid-October—warm weather may slow the change. KNSI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cold Spring city leaders reduced a planned property tax increase for 2026 by approving a preliminary budget that limits the rise to 3.3% instead of the expected 10.5% through cuts in streets department equipment costs. Officials will finalize the budget in December—and they will review city hall remodel plans at the next council meeting on September 24th. KNSI
- ➤ Lane closures will be implemented on Veterans Dr/8th Street N on Monday, September 15 from 6 AM to 4 PM and Tuesday, September 16 from 6 AM to 4 PM to allow paving on adjacent avenues (weather permitting). City of St. Cloud
- ➤ Mayor Jeff Schmitz said St. Augusta—growing from 2,657 residents in 1990 to about 3,767 today—plans to extend city services to the Luxemburg area as the community sees more industrial and residential growth. He added that Gabardine Road will begin construction in 2026 while repairs on 28th Street could start in 2027. WJON

- ➤ The USDA has changed Minnesota's dairy bird flu status from affected to unaffected after four months of raw milk sampling. The change means the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will test milk every two months—federal restrictions on animal movement still apply. WJON
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Bear hunting in Minnesota has 1,650 bears taken so far—almost 1,000 fewer than last year—and hunters reported record-sized catches near Babbitt and Duluth, including a 560-pound bear. The season continues until October 12, and while no bears have been shot in St. Cloud, rural areas around here still show bear activity. WJON
- ➤ Today, St. Cloud podcaster Mitchell Hansen explained that the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx will start their playoff run on Sunday with home-court advantage — he will give updates on the News @ Noon Show each Thursday as long as the team remains in the postseason. WJON
