COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Cloud’s Eastside will host FestiFall this Sunday on East St. Germain Street from noon until 5:00 p.m. The event will feature over 60 vendors, live music at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.—a classic car show and touch-a-truck area in a traffic-free zone.  WJON
  • A community cereal drive is underway at Whitney Senior Center, Sartell Community Center, and Sta-Fit Sartell to collect boxes for local food shelves for families in need. Organizers plan to gather 1,000 boxes before a celebration on October 9th—when volunteers will set up a domino display to show the impact.  KNSI
  • United Way of Central Minnesota's Days of Caring Volunteer Event is underway today with 725 volunteers tackling 97 projects at 33 nonprofit organizations in St. Cloud and nearby areas—volunteers are painting, landscaping, and handling yard work and office chores.  KNSI
  • At Waters Church in Sartell, the annual Meating event will take place on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. — it will serve 2,000 pounds of grilled meat, feature live music from Chase Grant and the Ranch Hands, and include a car show, contests, and a grand prize drawing for Chick-fil-A.  WJON

BUSINESS NEWS

  • St. Cloud will host DISRUPTHR on September 23 at Harvester Square—12 speakers will share 5-minute talks on workplace dynamics in a TEDx-style event. Tickets cost $35 and are available until September 21 for locals seeking fresh ideas for better employee experiences.  WJON
  • Viking Coke and Landwehr Construction will present business expansion proposals before the St. Cloud Zoning Board of Appeals today at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. Viking Coke seeks to add 5,669 square feet to its plant at 4380 8th Street North and request a setback variance from 20 feet to 10 feet while Landwehr Construction asks for a permit to convert its dealership office — both proposals requiring environmental upgrades and operational changes.  KNSI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Friends of fowl is launching a nonprofit called Just Save 1 Duck to help injured wild ducks at Lake George—Jodi Johnson, who has rescued over 350 animals before, plans a spring launch and asks the St. Cloud community to donate and volunteer.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Waite Park announced its preliminary 2026 General Fund Budget with a total allocation of $14.04 million—a 2.4% increase that boosts funding for the police, public works, and fire departments. The proposal was reviewed at a Monday afternoon session at the Ledge Performers Building where officials discussed higher expenses for salaries, maintenance, and capital equipment.  KNSI
  • The Minnesota Department of Revenue warned residents statewide about scam texts pretending to be from the tax department and urging them to update banking information. The department advised people to ignore and delete any such messages — they are not genuine and are an attempt to steal personal details.  KNSI

  • CentraCare's Coborn Cancer Center is offering a free prostate cancer screening on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.—men aged 45 to 70 without a history of prostate cancer can call 3202295100 to schedule an appointment for a PSA blood test and physical exam.  WJON
  • CentraCare’s St. Cloud Hospital celebrated a 100-year AHA milestone while Sauk Centre Hospital marked 75 years of advancing rural healthcare—both awards showing their strong commitment to quality care in our area.  WJON

  • Local bakeries and coffee shops in St. Cloud offer fall menus featuring pumpkin spice lattes, breads, and pastries while national chains and new spots roll out similar seasonal treats—providing options with and without pumpkin flavor—as the season unfolds.  St. Cloud Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jim Souhan said Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy struggled in 7 of his 8 game quarters this season and threw 2 interceptions while lacking key support from the offensive line—raising doubt about whether he can help the team stay competitive in the division. He warned that if his performance does not improve quickly, the Vikings might consider benching him.  WJON
