COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Anti-domestic violence advocates will gather in downtown St. Cloud on October 2 for the Take Back the Night rally—starting at 5:30 p.m. with community tabling at Eastman Park and Lake George, followed by a speaker session and a march through the area.  KNSI
  • Registration is open for a free inclusive Halloween celebration for families with children who face barriers at typical events, hosted by ConnectAbility of MN in the St. Cloud area on October 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Organizers will share the exact location after registration to ensure a safe and controlled environment.  KNSI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management announced that retail sales for adult-use cannabis are expanding through new compacts with state tribes. Green Goods opened eight stores Tuesday and RISE plans to launch its St. Cloud location—along with others—in the coming days.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local artist Tara Aiken from Minnetonka has been commissioned to paint a 30-foot by 20-foot mural on the future Metz. & Co. building at the corner of West St. Germain & 7th Avenue North to honor St. Cloud’s history with postcard art; the work will take 2-3 weeks to complete with a projected finish by October 1.  WJON
  • This Friday, Kansas and Jefferson Starship will perform at the Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park at 7:30 p.m.—they will play hit songs from the 70s and 80s. Fans can enjoy classic rock tracks that defined a generation.  WJON
  • GREAT Theatre will open its season this Friday with high school students starring in 'Elephant & Piggie's We Are in A Play! Junior' at the Helgeson Learning Lab Theatre in Waite Park. The 45-minute musical will run through September 28 and gives students a hands-on chance to lead on stage—preparing them for future college theater opportunities.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • East St Germain Street will be closed from Riverside Drive to Lincoln Avenue between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21 for FestiFall events—the intersection at Wilson Avenue will close to all traffic during the Classic Car Show Parade from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  City of St. Cloud

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sartell Pediatrics has joined Zarminali Pediatrics and will offer new services—occupational and speech therapy—while keeping the same hours and phone number. Dr. David Smith will continue practicing as the network expands to more locations in Minnesota.  KNSI
  • A student at Westwood Elementary experienced a medical emergency Tuesday morning and was cared for by staff until police and EMS arrived—school operations continued and there was no public threat.  WJON
