- ➤ TCHS is hosting a 50% off cat adoption event today—each adoption includes spaying/neutering and vaccinations—and over 100 cats are waiting for families to bring home a new companion. WJON
- ➤ Avivo Village broke ground on its new homeless shelter off 1st Street South in St. Cloud on Friday. The 48-unit facility is set to welcome its first guests in late summer or fall and received over $7 million in state funding—funds that will support job training and housing assistance. KNSI
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Niron Magnetics broke ground Friday at the former Verso Paper Mill site in Sartell to build a 190,000 square foot plant—set to open early 2027—that will create 175 full-time jobs and manufacture permanent magnets for use in car motors and electronics. WJON

- ➤ Artist Tara Aiken is putting final touches on a postcard-style mural at the corner of 7th Avenue North and West St. Germain in downtown St. Cloud— the project on the former Security Coin and Pawn building highlights a historic St Cloud sign and local landmarks after August's design work and warm, dry September weather. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rasmussen University will launch its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the St. Cloud campus in January 2026—this program gives local students a nearby way to train as registered nurses to help meet Minnesota’s growing nursing shortages. Enrollment is now open and the program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. KNSI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ 1st Street South will be closed from October 1 to October 3 because of private utility work along the stretch from 31st Avenue S to 32nd Avenue S—a detour will be posted for motorists. City of St. Cloud
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The St. Cloud VA Medical Center is offering free flu shots to enrolled veterans during regular appointments and through walk-through clinics at Building 96. The clinics will be held on October 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—October 7th, 9th, 15th, and 16th during daytime hours, with an evening session on October 17th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a Saturday session on October 18th from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and veterans must bring their Veterans Health Identification Card and wear short sleeves. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Royalton High School made the top 25 in T-Mobile's contest for a chance to win $1 million to upgrade its football field + honor former coach Nick Lanners, and it has already received $25,000 while sitting in 13th place. Voters must cast their ballots daily to help improve the school's ranking and continue the field improvements. WJON
