  • On Saturday, Waite Park's LedgeTober Flannel Fest brought over 1,300 people to the Ledge Amphitheater—where Mayor Ken Schmitt tapped a keg to open the event—and featured live music, samples from 15 local breweries and wineries, contests awarding $100 prizes, and a raffle for a one-night hotel stay, dinner, and concert tickets for 2026.  WJON

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kwik Trip is updating its cash rules by no longer accepting pennies and will round down cash transactions to the nearest five cents—this change aims to help customers and manage the depleted penny supply. Card payments will remain exact.  WJON
  • Fare For All is hosting a pop-up grocery event today at Resurrection Lutheran Church in St. Joseph from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.—shoppers can stock up on fall hot buys like Beef Lit'l Smokies, Local Delicate Squash, Ham & Cheese Quiche, and Chicken Tenders while using cash, EBT, or credit cards.  WJON

HEALTH NEWS

  • The St. Cloud VA Medical Center will host six walk-in vaccine clinics over the next two weeks to offer flu and COVID jabs in Building 96. Sessions are scheduled on October 15, 16, 17, and 18 with morning or evening times to help protect veterans during respiratory virus season.  KNSI
  • Central Minnesota Mental Health Center in St. Cloud will cut its withdrawal management program on Jan. 1, 2026, eliminating 25 jobs due to underutilization and a nearly $980,000 loss in 2024—its space will be repurposed to expand residential crisis services amid growing demand.  St. Cloud Times

  • On October 4, local high schools played soccer and volleyball games. In girls soccer, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy beat Melrose 3-1; in boys soccer, St. Cloud Cathedral won 4-2 over Bemidji with Jacob Oliver scoring all four goals—an impressive effort—while Hillcrest Lutheran Academy won 2-0 over Melrose and Westonka beat Big Lake 4-0, and in girls volleyball, Sartell beat St. Cloud Tech 3-2 while Litchfield and Becker won their games 2-1 and 2-0.  WJON
