- ➤ St. Cloud is hosting fall events with a 45th Anniversary Bash at Red Carpet Night Club and a Fall Bazaar at Tech High School on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.—other events include an Aquatic Swap at SCSU on Sunday at 12:00 p.m., a string quartet at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Grey Face Rescue’s 10th Anniversary celebration at Pantown Brewing Company on Saturday from noon to 3:00 p.m. WJON
- ➤ Manea’s Meats in Sauk Rapids will host its first annual Fall Family Meat Up this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the downtown parking lot—featuring llamas, rabbits, a pumpkin weight-guessing contest, and a pig scavenger hunt—while a nearby fire department open house adds extra fun for families. - ➤ The Cold Spring Fire Department will host an open house at its new firehall at 109 Main Street this weekend with a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Saturday — families can tour trucks, view equipment, and meet firefighters as the event runs until 6 p.m. WJON

- ➤ Raghav Shrestha—a cheerful Sartell middle schooler hurt in a bike accident this weekend who dreamed of being a police officer—was pulled off life support after doctors at Hennepin County Medical Center found he lost all brain activity, and Sartell PD honored him with his own badge before the decision was made. - ➤ St. Cloud’s Anderson Trucking Service announced on Oct. 8 that its ATS Logistics Services will acquire part of Florida-based Trailer Bridge’s domestic freight brokerage division effective Nov. 1—expanding its service network and capacity. St. Cloud Times
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will open its season with 'Prosperous Voyage' this Saturday at Ritsche Auditorium on the SCSU campus—new Artistic Director Kornel Thomas will lead a preconcert talk at 6:30 p.m. before a 7:30 p.m. concert featuring works by Copland and Wagner. Tickets cost $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and $5 for students. WJON
- ➤ Music lovers will enjoy a pop-up record store at Bad Habit Brewing in St. Joseph on Sunday, October 26th — the Minneapolis/St. Paul Music Expo organizes the event to bring back the charm of browsing vinyl. The event offers music fans a chance to explore vintage records in a relaxed setting. WJON

- ➤ Today, Catholic Community Schools raised over $4 million for its Deeply Rooted, Growing Stronger capital campaign to upgrade facilities and boost student programs. The campaign received a large donation from the Cross Works Foundation and matched a $500,000 gift from the Coborn Family Foundation with support from 150 donors. WJON

- ➤ The Public Safety Foundation announced winners of its 2025 awards that honor local public safety professionals and teams for exceptional leadership and lifesaving efforts. The awards dinner will be held on Friday, October 24 at the Park Event Center in Waite Park — the event will recognize acts such as a 15-year-old who performed CPR during an emergency. WJON
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud held its Autumn Reflections fundraiser on September 25 at The Park Event Center in Waite Park—raising over $140,000 to support compassionate care programs, including a new veterans care fund. The hospice is now over 90% toward its $250,000 goal for Veterans Compassionate Care by Veterans Day. WJON

- ➤ Naz Reid is wearing purple shoes this season to honor his late sister who was fatally shot this summer as the Timberwolves prepare for the NBA season—hoping to reach the Finals for the first time. WJON
- ➤ The Sauk Rapids—Rice Storm volleyball team defeated Sartell 3—0 with set scores of 25—23, 25—21, and 25—16 to win the Central Lakes Conference title as Aubrey Marketon recorded 20 set assists and Josie Anderson tallied 12 kills. They will host Elk River today. WJON
- ➤ St. Cloud fans cheered the NHL season’s start as 11 former Huskies appeared in the league + Ryan Poehling was traded to the Ducks while others like Charlie Lindgren and Jonny Brodzinski signed new deals, keeping local talent in view. WJON
