- ➤ A new SKECHERS store opened Friday morning at Crossroads Shopping Center on West Division Street in St. Cloud. The standalone store offers a full range of footwear, apparel, and accessories for all ages — marking the brand’s seventh store in Minnesota. WJON
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Holiday Train will roll through Minnesota from December 12—17, hosting free concerts by American Authors and Lanco while raising donations for local food banks. WJON
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Nearly two dozen school board members from St. Cloud and nearby districts signed an open letter urging state education officials to comply with Title IX after federal agencies issued a Notice of Violation that found female athletes were denied fair opportunities and privacy. The letter warns that continued noncompliance could risk federal funding—prompting calls for clear state guidelines. KNSI
- ➤ Brandi Canter has been named the new Executive Director of Great River Regional Library and will lead a five-year plan to boost literacy and community partnerships. She invites local residents to join a meet-and-greet event (Nov. 20, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the St. Cloud Public Library's Bremer Community Room). WJON

- ➤ Mark Bragelman from Liberty Bank Minnesota spoke on WJON about how banks in St. Cloud have changed since the 1860s. He explained that the First National Bank building now houses the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation and that St. Cloud National Bank evolved into Wells Fargo — a reflection of decades of local financial history. - ➤ Pantown Brewing will host its annual Flannel Fest next Saturday, October 18 from noon to 10 p.m., offering craft beers, food trucks and live music + showcasing new beer releases. Locals can join the cozy celebration off 3rd street near Short Stop + enjoy a fall tradition with friends. WJON
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Four Big Ten college football games will affect which teams play for the championship and bowl games. Today the Golden Gophers host Purdue for Homecoming — other key match-ups include Indiana at Oregon, Ohio State at Illinois and Michigan at USC. WJON
- ➤ Minnesota’s pheasant hunters are set to begin the 2025 season today as bird numbers have risen nearly 50% from last year thanks to a mild winter & favorable spring conditions, while hunters are advised to focus on the Southwest, South Central, and West Central regions for the best opportunities. - ➤ St. John's football lost 17-10 to Bethel last Saturday with missed red zone opportunities—only one touchdown and one field goal were scored—and the team will face Macalester today at 1 p.m. in Collegeville. WJON
